Christi,

Thanks for caring enough to respond. I'm currently working with Unlocking

Autism on this and we're thinking that $50 would buy your child's name on the

ad. It'll probably take awhile for this to happen so if you'd like to start

setting a little bit aside every week maybe that would be easier for you.

Please share this with every group you're on. I'm currently working on

getting sponsorship from the Autism Coalition, Kirkmans, Vaccine Injury

Alliance, SafeMinds, etc. so we can really pack a punch!

I want to give also but I am afraid that I cannot give that much right now.

But I still want to help. Let me know if we have to give $76 or if any

amount would help. And how soon you would need it.

Let me know when you get the info together about how to donate to this. i

will post it on my website and talk to my boss and post a link on our links

page. My boss also happens to be my dad. We have a computer company here

in Texas. They have been in business for 21 years now. I have no doubt

that they would let me put a link on the site or even a button link on the

home page for this. Also I have plenty of web space. If you need web space

for anything just let me know and I will set you up a username and password

and you can have all the space you need... to a point. I have several

hundred megs of space and am very willing to share for the cause. I want to

do whatever I can to help.

So...how many are we up to so far? I've cut and pasted this on a few

> sounds like a GREAT idea!!

To me, too. Just difficult to actually carry out.

I hope it happens.

Please forgive me for offering a few operational suggestions that

might help make it more tractable.

1. Have people send in checks for a fe dollars more than the ad price

and a self addressed, stamped envelope. Make the checks out to you or

it is a big pain to get the bank to clear them! Put " washington post

ad " in the memo line.

2. Don't deposit the checks right away. Checks are good for 6 months

after the date written on them. Hold them to see if you are going to

get enough. If not, they go back in the SASE's.

3. Promote MADLY on EVERY list in creation!

4. Allow and encourage people to send in extra money to generally

support the ad, or to pay for having their name in bigger type. Don't

limit yourself to needing 1,000 people to contribute $80, allow

someone who is really motivated to contribute more so you can actually

get this done!

5. If you get enough checks, or if it looks like you're going to get

there and your 6 months is about up, go start a free, no fee for

anything checking account that you put the checks in and use for NO

OTHER PURPOSE than this ad. Gather up all the money, place the ad,

pay for it, close the account.

6. The extra money - a few dollars each - pays for getting a thousand

newspapers, cutting out the ad page, and sending it back to everyone

in the SASE the provided in the first place so they don't all have to

go get the paper themselves. It may also pay for laying out and

typesetting the ad, etc.

Just thoughts. Hope it happens!

I would love to participate in any way possible. As a marketing and public

relations professional, I could help you to create a communications strategy

that would best utilize the available funds.

An ad in the Washington Post is an excellent goal, but there are many other

avenues to getting the message out to legislators and medical professionals.

The ad should be part of an overall communications plan. If you're going to

spend big money ($76,000) on a one-time ad placement, you want to be sure

that you have a plan to fully maximize (and exploit) the media opportunities

that may follow.

With a carefully crafted communications plan, you can parlay the $76k ad

into media coverage and public awareness that money cannot buy.

I could list the options here, but I don't think that everyone on this list

is necessarily interested. Let's talk off-list with whoever is interested in

participating in this project.

Lydia,

Thanks so much for helping us support this. We're getting ready to start a

major campaign to promote this. We have a sample ad almost ready and I think

everyone is going to be very pleased. It's very powerful! We'll be doing this

with the help of Unlocking Autism and will hopefully get SafeMinds, Kirkmans,

Dan Burton, etc. to support this also. I'll update soon with more details.

Hello Everyone,

I'd like to see if anyone would be interested in banding together to take

out

a full page ad in the Washington Post. This may be one of our best

opportunities to get our point across and get the government to stand up and

take notice. It could be something as simple as

I Believe My Child Was Injured By A Vaccine

and then we could all put our names under this ad. To take out this ad it

would cost $76,000. If we could get one thousand people (although more would

be awesome) to donate $76 to this, we could make a huge impact! As someone

pointed out to me, we'd be paying more than that to go to a Rally in

Washington and I think this would be much more powerful. If you know without

a doubt that you'd be interested in doing this, please let me know and I'll

start working on making this happen. I'll be the first to add my $76. It's

Hi Christi,

I'm getting a little frustrated as well, I was assured that it would be up on

their site this week but since they're at the ASA Conference, it's hard to

get a hold of anyone. I promise I'll let everyone know as soon as they get

back to me. I've already got information and links set up to send to various

websites and as soon as UA is ready to take credit cards I'll send this out

to everyone who requested it.

If anyone has space on their websites and would like to help with this

project, please let me know. We have no set deadline but I want everyone to

realize that this isn't an overnight project. This could be our one chance to

really make an impact and we have to take advantage of this opportunity.

We're putting together a game plan that will involve very careful planning.

UA's also working on setting up a central phone center so that we're ready

for anything when this ad hits. Thanks so much for telling your friends and

families about this. We have 98 contributors already so we're off to a great

start.
