Pam

I went through much of what you are going through in December of 2000.

All I can do is tell you what happened and if you have questions

please ask!

I went to ER for bleeding on a Tue night, Was given

Medroxyprogesterone for bleeding. followed up with doctor thursday

still bleeding. Was given a lupron shot and birth control 2 a day

(LoOvarl) well.... by Saturday night late I was blleding so bad I had

to rush to the ER and was admitted for 5 days. Continued bleeding

then when bleeding almost stopped my blood count was 5.9 and I was

really going down hill very pale and feet were yellow I got a blood

transfusion 3 units. and was sent home the next day.

I was told to continue birth control and lupron.

My suggestion before going any further demand a second opinion.

What type of doctor is seeing you now?

I went on fighting the bleeding with birth control pills and lupron

shots for 3 months. In my case it did not work, and I was told by two

doctors that I should not e taking them together.

I eventually weaned myself off. My bleeding never did stop completely

but did eventually decrease but by my third lupron shot and a battle

with birth control pills.

I know you cannot function like that I was and still am dealing with

this ordeal. The birth contol can also grow fibroids if that is what

you have you didnt say! If you do have fibroids could you give more

info regarding size type location.

My fibroid grew 3cm while battling with lupron and birth control.

Have you looked into UAE if you are bleeding you sholud talk to a

radiologist about UAE.

I will tell you more just ask please!

I feel your frustration!!!! I have been there, believe me I have.

Sincerely

Patty

Pam:

I'm so sorry, I know how you're feeling. I hope some people can tell you

about their Lupron experiences so you won't have just mine, but I suspect

if you went on the Lupron with no other hormones at the same time, it might

work for you. In the first 3 weeks, you may have a period (quite heavy)

but I believe after that one, they stop, as long as you aren't mixing it

with other hormones. Then in 3 months, if you've still had no bleeding, I

would continue the Lupron for the extra month or 2 to get you through your

wedding and honeymoon. (That way, your surgery won't be so close to your

events, if you need more recovery time, you won't have to worry about it

interfering with your important events). Your fibroid is bigger than mine

was so I hope the experience on Lupron wouldn't be too different. But

looking back on the last 2 1/2 months, with the exception of a 1 week

period, I realize how good my life was for that time. I didn't think about

the fibroid every waking moment because it stopped interfering with my life.

My other thought is maybe you should opt for a traditional myomectomy. Now

that I'm on the other side of getting cut open myself and see how fast the

recovery was for me, I would consider it. I think with a fibroid your

size, it's less tricky to go in and remove it this way (for the doctor),

and I know yours has been a tricky one to get. Maybe you wouldn't have to

go on Lupron first to do this. I know the invasive surgery seems scary and

you would want it to be your last resort, but it may be in the cards for

you. You need relief! You need your life back!

Pam, I'm so sorry, you've got a lot of stress with all this and a wedding

too!

Take care.
