I guess I must have known that...(about the seizures and the ECT being

an induction of a seizure). I don't know...it just sounds so ARCHAIC.

I guess maybe the method of administering may have improved the

procedure in the last couple of decades. I guess if it worked for you,

that is good.

I am sorry about your mother and her problems. It must have been a

horrible experience for you. I have heard it said that suicide is a

very selfish act. I think the people who say those things don't have

any idea of the tremendous amount of pain that can overwhelm a person,

clinically, genetically, trauma-induced, or otherwise. I have not

always thought about it this way. At one time I actually agreed with

the statement, but now I believe a human being can only take so much

pain. That is a big reason that I have not gotten myself hypnotized to

find out what the extent of my abuse really was. My brain has said,

" you know this much and that's all you need to know-I can't give you

anymore " . And I am FINE with that.

Hi

ECT is thought to work by raising those good ol' neurotrasmitter levels

in the brain. The electric current stimulates their relese.

the ECT techniques have been improved. One improvement is to avoid

passing current through the language centres of the brain, which

reduces the amount of amnesia that can be caused.

Best,

Pete
