Guest guest
Hi Pam Yes, we have a problem in Canada, all our Doctors run down to the states where they can make big bucks and not have any restrictions on fees or hours. They can only operate 2 days a week - my Dr got $650 (94) for an 11 hr AN removal....in the states they'd get like $4- 8 thousand. (Wm. House charged $2000 in 1965, I can't imagine what it is now) There isn't one NF2 specialist in BC that I know of, some very good surgeons,ie Dr.F. Durity in Van, I have had people talking about Von Recklinhaus, an ancient term for NF1. I am in a quandary as to what to expect as I become paralyzed but there isn't anyone who can tell me..We don't have the population to have very high numbers of cases This is all I have-The Crew It's much more valuable then 20 GPs When I ask my doctor about something he has this pat answer, " It's just the end-stage of NF " ,......... just like it took 20 years to find that the source of my pain was spinal tumors, a specialist would automatically suspect tumors .....I didn't know that we even got them tell about 10 years ago. For 20 years I was " crazy " and " a drug addict " to the medical community just because there isn't enough NF cases to be much money in specializing in NF.
