Guest guest
Some questions for a possible article: (BTW...yes, I have read the ADA Toolkit on the subject of diversity recruiting and mentoring). 1. Do you feel comfortable counseling individuals of ethnic groups other than your own? 2. What do you do when you do not speak the language of the person you are counseling? 3. How often are you confronted with an issue in another culture that you do not understand? 4. Do you think it is more effective for people to be counseled by dietitians who are more like they are culturally, socially, etc.? 5. Did you receive cross cultural competency awareness training in school? At work? 6. How would you suggest we go about recruiting more dietitians who are male? Of ethnicities not adequately represented? 7. Do you think that gender and/or sexual orientation also affect the ability of a dietitian to " reach " a client? Thanks for your ideas and input. I'll let you know if I decide to write the article. If so, I'll need your permission to quote you.
