Guest guest
Hi everyone! i'm now 18 days post-op and optimisic about my surgical decision. But I do have a concern. Since day 5 post-op I have had horrible sleep-waking headaches every night. They don't seem to bother me as much in the day and I am now down to 3 pain pills during the day. But I can't seem to sleep more than 5 hours at a time (the pain wakes me up). It doesn't matter if I take a pain killer and a valium in the middle of the night the pain still jolts me awake. If I sit up when they hit I get some relief, especially If I get up and walk around a bit. The other night I fell asleep sitting up! They feel like contractions, pulsating, throbbing headaches which last aprox. 10 seconds at a time, let up for about 10 seconds the repeat. The pressure is mainly on top of my head, the top sides(above the ears) and back of the head. Has anyone experienced this 2-3 weeks post-op??? My dr. has changed my muscle relaxant meds. suspecting that they are muscle spasams(I was on Robaxin, now Somma). I think he may be right. The weird and unnerving thing is that I never suffered from headaches pre-op!!! (Even though my herniation was 20mm) I certainly hope this is all temporary and not the new post-op me. HAS ANYONE EXPERIENCED POST-OP HEADACHES NIGHTLY, ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO DID NOT SUFFER FROM HEADACHES PRE-OP??? I'm sure you can understand my concern. Do they usually go away? You are all such a wealth of information, I turn to you once again. ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com
