Guest guest
My Mom is 89 years old; living in an assited living (dementia unit) for a month now. She has mid-level dementia and they have been wanting to have her medicated since the first week she was there and are at it again. I hold my mother's medical power of attorney so I told them they are not to give her ANYTHING until they ask me first. Is there anything Mom can take other than these horrible psych. drugs to help with the agitation she experiences (mostly in the morning)? Mom doesn't take *any* prescription drugs; she had a recent physical and the doctor said she is very healthy. (just as a side note: my mother's dementia began about 3 years ago. I think it is mainly due to the time she was caring for my father and was up all hours of the night, not eating well, etc... She was under a tremendous amount of stress. I tried telling my father to get a nurse to the house and he refused.) Dee
Guest guest
** Dee, please be specific about the agitation. Describe it. Yes, there are things but I need to understand the nature of it first. Have you seen the agitation or is it just reported to you? ---C My Mom is 89 years old; living in an assited living (dementia unit) for a month now.
