Guest guest
Jill, I am looking for gyns in Toronto and have looked into embolism but it worries me. I would like to find a gyn who does myos. I have been told mine are too big but there are listings here of women who seem to have larger ones and have had myo's. I don't like the idea of putting permanent plastic particles in my body. I have not found a gyn who is really up to date on alternatives procedures. Guest guest
, I live in Waterloo, ON and will be seeing my gyn on Feb 4th. She said she would refer me to a good doctor who does myos and I think she said he is in Hamilton? or Burlington? Once I have talked to her I can e-mail you with the name if you would like. Please let me know. I too do not like the idea of plastic in my body and the pain issues after embolization scare me also. If you would like to correspond privately I am open to that. Guest guest
Hi Jill and , I had my myo done in Toronto. My gyn was Dr. Sved, he is located on Bay St in the Pinto Plaza. Main intersection is Bay and Gerrard. He does his surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital. When I had my surgery in November my uterus was still measuring about 20+ weeks pregnancy and the fibroid weighed between 8 and 10 pounds, so don't let any doctor tell you that you can't have a myo because your fibroids are to large. I went through the same thing with my 2 first gyns I seen where I live in Oshawa, my only options were to have UAE or have a hysterectomy. Hopefully this will help both of you's. If you have any other questions feel free to email me at loneyprpn@.... > > > Jill, > I am looking for gyns in Toronto and have looked into embolism but it worries > me. Guest guest
Hi Robin, Welcome to the club! I'm 35, recently married, and hope to be pregnant in the next year. But, I just found out I have a fibroid last week (no clue yet on size or location) and am scrambling to figure out what's what. I recall seeing a few posts saying the IRs don't want you to be on Lupron. They want a high blood flow to the fibroid so they can find the right artery to inject the particles, and so the particles go where they're supposed to. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong -- I've been reading so much lately I might have gotten things confused. I've seen several posts from the past discussing UFE and fertility/pregnancy. Hopefully you have time to keep reading -- start from a ways back. I haven't found any definitive answers, but, the advice, experiences, and links to other sites have given me a pretty good sense of the pros and cons of what's available. Keep reading, and asking and reading ... Other than the fact the fibroids have grown quickly lately, do you have really bad symptoms (bleeding/cramping/anemia/pelvic pressure) that have brought you to point of saying the fibroids need to be treated now? Or can you still live with them for a while so have more time to make a decision on treatment? I hope to hear your opinions on what you find, and what you'll consider for yourself and why. Guest guest
Did your doctor tell you that Lupron is not a long term treatment or " cure " for fibroids. Even if you did take Lupron for the recommended maximum of 3 months and shrunk your fibroid somewhat they would just grow back to their previous size when you went off of it. --- roob2u2 wrote: > Hello, everyone! > I have been reading some posts for a week or two. > I start Lupron injections tomorrow. Guest guest
Yes, you can still have UAE after Lupron. BUT, you have to wait until the vascular system to your fibroids is back to " normal " so that the embolization will work. Most Interventional Radiologist's want to wait for at least six weeks after your last Lupron injection before they will treat you. Guest guest
Robin, I feel that sometimes we are told by doctors to do this or that but deep inside, we are just not ready (even if their advice and recommended procedure is right for us). If you not ready - do not do it. Cancel your procedure, Advise your gyno that you need more time to think about it (I have changed my mind and cancelled booked operation- this is not a big deal). Do more research, talk to radiologist about effect of LUPRON on embolization. Give yourself time to make a right decision FOR YOU. Nina Your e-mail Hello, everyone! Guest guest
, Geeze you have had it rough! I'm just so sorry! I know how hard it must be with out your husband - personally I think all men are jerks! My sister is also very ill with cancer, so I have an idea how that must be for you. The Lupron shot sucks to put it nicely, but it's beeter in the longrun to have had it. From what I understand you CAN take BCPs or some other form of low dose hormones to help with the side effects odf the shot. I wish there was something I could say or do to make things better, but I can offer an ear to listen anytime! You can reach me at ktrb9 on AOL or YAHOO instant messanger and you should have my e-mail from this letter. Pelase don't hesitate to wrtite! I live in CT so atleast were somewhat close! All My Best,
