Guest guest
Over the last 3 days I have read three different people on 3 different thyroid groups say that their doctor lowered their dose of Armour and subbed in either synthetic T4 or synthetic T3..I haven't heard this before...is there a new double talk being suggested to these doctors by the pharma reps in order to " deal with " people on Armour? One said that " Many people have problems with their T3 getting too high on Armour while their T4 stays low, because Armour contains much more T3 than a normal thyroid makes in a day " ,.......this is what her doctor told her before he decreased her Armour and put her on synthroid with it...another one had her Armour decreased and was put on additional synthetic was it levoxyl - I think she said - she feels like heck!! And now there's , whose doctor said her 4 grains Armour seemeed too high how about decreasing it and getting on time-released synthetic T3 " ...I haen't heard this kind of thing before, but now it seems to be happening all over the palce...what gives? Is this the latest in an effort to show patients who use Armour that it is not as effective as they may think?? what do you guys think? does it seem strange to you?? --- End forwarded message ---
Guest guest
, your theory is interesting, and plausible. There has been much scandal done by the makes of Synthroid and other T4-only meds in an attempt to get folks to their product. In fact, the entire introduction of Synthroid into the market in the late 60's was done with huge lies. Guest guest
Our check was nice also. But not considering the hell I have been through with this thyroid dosing. Nine darn years of Synthroid and then a big battle to finally get the Armour. Maybe I can hold out to see what the next move is??? Ha!!! Guest guest
The way I understand it, the makers of Synthroid touted it as being better than other drugs, more stable and consist, better potency. The FDA kept having to recall batches of it due to lack of consistency. Finally a Class Action suit was filed, I believe in the early 90's. I remember getting the paperwork and thinking, Class Action suit, okay I could use another $5.00, so I filled out the paperwork, and then low and behold I received a check for about $106.00 right before Christmas. That is a pretty substantial settlement for one person in a class action suit. I don't know if the settlement was large, or not many people filed the paperwork. I was placed on Synthroid the summer of 1990, so I wasn't on the drug very long before the suit was filed, and you had to have taken it during a specific time period. -- Re: Re: Fwd: I am wondering.....??? Guest guest
It is my understanding that the class action was about the false inf. about no generic equivalent could be made or something to that effect. That is not right? Re: Re: Fwd: I am wondering.....??? What was the suit for, who was it against? Guest guest
That is ringing a bell.... way back then my doc tried to put me on generic and I got even sicker on that... so we went back to $ynthroid... I still got sick, but not as bad... then we found that it was the level of med at a dose that was doing it and it went to 3 doses a day instead of 1.... *whew* so I did hear about it... just made an incorrect choice, based on incorrect info... that doc also kept telling me the synthetic was more consistent than natural and so we never tried it... I betcha I wouldn't have gotten as sick on Armour!
