Guest guest
To All: After reviewing 3 different charts, it appears that my total intake was cut by 3/4 grain of Armour. The endo himself told me after the first test, before any changes that my thyroids looked pretty good. After 3 hours of shivering, 1 hour of crying, 2 hours to feed myself, 2 more hours of looking at numbers with total brain fog, a hot bath, I crippled upstairs and sent my endo an email: Part of it follows: Dear Dr. I also want you to know that I am worse than when I started seeing you. I can only surmise that it is do to the med changes. I am freezing cold, with shivers (temp 96.7) no appetite, crying-more depressed, severe joint and muscle pain, and constipation. Before I saw you, I was more active, getting out of the house for short errands, a beach walk, etc. I no longer feel the energy to do this. My gut is telling me that I am not and was not getting enough thyroid into my cells. My current dosage is 30mg Armour 2xdaily and 50mcg Levoxyl. I have been at this level for since Nov. 22. I feel like I am again begging for a doctor to listen to me and at least let me try what my gut instincts are telling me. I am about to the end of my rope. FrannieGet more from the Web. Guest guest
Jamy, I guess other than a new blood test, I only hinted. I still expect him to listen to me and know by my symptoms that I want to try more t3 not t4. I also want to go back to the level of hormone I was on when I first went to him. I was not good then but much better. As far as the Florinef, I think he told me I would need to watch for swelling and headaches, but often they dissipate. I have not gotten that RX filled. Too many other symptoms presently. Have you researched the safety of Florinef? My understanding is that it is a mineralcorticoid, and different from taking heavy steroids as far as how it effects the body. I read that it helps the kidneys hold sodium. My dx was hypoadrenalism I think. I would need to recheck. Did he have you do an MRI? Is he willing to look at or agree with your saliva cortisol test? Guest guest
By yes, he will look at the saliva tests at night, he ordered them. He is supposed to be good, and even admitted that what he thought would be wrong me aside from the low renin and aldosterone would be insulin resistance and it wasn't. He is a scientist and has to be directed what you find acceptable though. I am peeing more on the Florenif than off it. Supposedly, with my hormone and adrenal levels, this is what I need. we will see. NO, I haven't done much research on the drug. What do you know? That might explain this headache. Guest guest
I pea constantly, I am already dehydrated. Dehydration may be due to the sodium release in the kidneys. Florinef is supposed to help this. However, if it makes me go more than now that is all I will do it run back and forth to the bathroom. I am going to call my Son - a dentist and see if he will call his MD doctor friend and get the scoop for me on mineralcorticoids and there effect on the body. I am wanting to know what causes the headache. You are not getting any water retention or swelling in your ankles or legs. Correct My alternative doc seemed better with my need to take the HGH than the Florinef, but he did not explain his reasons. I will let you know what I find out. Frannie PS. What company is doing your Salvia Test? 24 hour. Mine of two years ago showed problems but the doc did nothing. This is why I think I have more than DHEA problems. Are you testing more than cortisol? Guest guest
Jamy, One more thought. Do you think the dx hypoaldosterone and hyporenin are just fancy names for shot adrenals. Of course I also have the hypopanpituitarism and the tumor. Should we take this discussion off this list, when it becomes so adrenal and pituitary related? Is it appropriate discussion and OK. , Janie, ??? Frannie Re: Re: (Frannie) aising meds when it is cold-Iron ? Guest guest
Since I upped my dose to the full pill I am peeing like crazy, but I wasn't before. Most people are before and not after. Figures I would do it backward. No, on the 2 weeks of 1/2 pill a day, no swelling. I will let you know if it changes. I am just starting to take a full pill a day. He has had my saliva sent to AAL in Wisconsin. I had tested all else before. My testosterone is slightly low but my DHEA is fine. I just started Osteogel a couple of months ago. I still get a period and like I said, ferritin was 20. He wants it about 70 before I can stop all the extra iron. I think the headache is a change in the potassium and salt change. Guest guest
Will he be monitering your potassium and sodium? I have a friend who almost did not make it because they put her on High blood pressure medicine and her Potassium bottomed out. She needed the potassium with the blood pressure medicine. I just looked the med up in the PDR. I will try to type it and send it to you. It says it does what a common steroid in the body does ( must be adolsterone). If it raises BP and Meds that lower BP can also drain Potassium, then maybe it does not release that much? I need to learn more. Do you have on record our NA and K levels? Do you know the ingredients in the Florinef? I am sure it probably isn't listed. I couldn't call my son tonight, it's too late. Frannie Re: Re: (Frannie) aising meds when it is cold-Iron ? Here is a link for you to read about it. http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic/fludro.htm From: Fran Oyler To: NaturalThyroidHormones Sent: Thursday, January 08, 2004 6:15 PM Subject: Re: Re: (Frannie) aising meds when it is cold-Iron ? Guest guest
Did he do a sodium NA and Potassium K of your blood? Here is mine. Sodium 140 Range 136-145 Potassium 3.9 Range 3.5-5.1 My Chloride and Bicarbonate were also low in the range. This may mean dehydration . These both look low in their respective range. My question is what is a normal ratio to each other in the blood? Do you mean your Potassium is high compared to the sodium or it was high in the range. I also have low renin and adolsterone. Same dx I think. Frannie Re: Re: (Frannie) aising meds when it is cold-Iron ? To All: After reviewing 3 different charts, it appears that my total intake was cut by 3/4 grain of Armour. Guest guest
No, he did neither. I have a lot of tests from my last DR that show sodium normal and potassium at the top of the normal range. What were your renin and aldosterone? mine renin 26 range 70-330 aldosterone 2.1 range 7-30 Jamy Re: Re: (Frannie) aising meds when it is cold-Iron ? Guest guest
Thanks, Jamy. It would be nice to know I could do this. I have e-mailed Kim before to get a response from him, but even that thought time. Frannie Re: (Frannie) aising meds when it is cold-Iron ? You are worse because you are on far too low a dose. No matter how low your dose is, the pituitary gland knows that your body is getting thyroid hormones. Thus, it sends a message to your thyroid via the TSH to shut down further it's already low production of hormones. You become even more hypo than before!!!!! Your doc is AWFUL. He REEKS.
