Guest guest
Are they sure they are a Type 2? New adult onset who are very fit & don't need to lose weight might be LADA (Latent Autoimmunity Diabetes in Adulthood) which is a very slow progressive Type 1. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12021090 Most internet information for Type 2 is about losing weight. If this person is fit and appropriate, weight, they need to follow consistent carb and low saturated fat, high fiber and low glycemic index for optimal nutrition side of the management scheme. American Diabetes Association (diabetes.org) is a good overall site but if some of the advice may not make sense if this person doesn't need to lose weight or get in shape. Other general info sites: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/diabetes/DS01121 http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/diabetes.html  dLife.com is a good site for community support and getting questions answered (affliated with the MSNBC TV show on Sundays). TuDiabetes.com is a community site (self-help). ---------- Holly Lee Brewer, MS RD CDE Pediatric Dietitian, Diabetes Educator Medical Nutrition Therapist, Las Vegas, NV Maj Holly Brewer, USAFR BSC http://hollyinbalad.blogspot.com 301st MDS, NAS JRB Fort Worth (Carswell), TX Joint Base Balad, Iraq (Jan-Jul 2009) ________________________________ To: rd usa <rd-usa > Sent: Sat, February 5, 2011 2:01:03 PM Subject: Websites for newly dx'd type 2 DM  Does anyone have a list of websites that would be helpful for an educated adult onset diabetic, very fit not needing to lose wt.?
