Subject: fluoride toothpaste

Could someone clarify for me the issue of whether fluoride toothpaste

is safe for our kids?

flouride is not safe for anyone.

We have tried the " all

natural " toothpastes from the health food store but they are pretty

nasty tasting.

a paste made from baking soda and salt (

http://emporium.turnpike.net/P/PDHA/health/keyes.htm ) may be a choice. some

are " nasty " tasting, but also some we have found to be quite palatable,

especially ones from " toms " brand.

I see that Kirkmans now offers an alternative

toothpaste but is it effective for preventing cavities?

tooth decay is a matter of the immune system. with proper brushing, and

cleanaing, and well functionjing immune system, natural methods of cleaning work

fine.

trying to find an

amalgam-free dentist to fill them.

any dentist may be an amalgam free dentist. just tell them you do NOT want any

amalgam.... generally they will use whatever materials you are willing ot pay

for (or your insurance, if it pays for anything other then amalgam).

it is customer choice. If you want porcelain, youget it, if you want composites,

you get it, if you want targis vectirs you get it.. you get what you pay for.

---I use Nature's Gate Tooth gel...it is fluoride free, and comes in

different flavors. I use cherry for my son and mint for myself.

Hey Niki

I wouldnt go near anything with fluoride when suffering with a thyroid problem!

I had the same advice when having all my amalgam fillings, gold crowns etc

replaced several years ago. My dentist, though brilliant was horrified when I

told him I dont use fluroide and I too had some sensitivity. But I have always

used Aloe-Dent (flurodie free) toothpaste and have great teeth and NO

sensitivity. You can get whitening, sensitive and other types. Same price as the

other chemical laden ones but as, if not more effective. Buy it in Health Food

stores or on-line.

Best wishes

dental work done and the dentist prescribed me some toothpaste due to extreme

sensitivity to cold.
