Guest guest
Yes, I take Enzymatic Therapy (originally raw adrenal) by Enzymatic Therapy. So far it has been great and has given me back my motivation and energy. I recommend it highly. I got it at my local health food store. Patti Sue Re: Re: Full Replacement Dose? Guest guest
okay, it's my day for questions. As I perused the files I read the article on pregnenolone. Since it is a precursor for so many of the other steriods do you need to supplement for any of the others such as DHEA if you take pregnenolone? Thanks , Schiff is what I had in my hand yesterday, but I believe they had two brands to choose from. -- Re: Re: Full Replacement Dose? I use Schiff brand for my DHEA.... Guest guest
MM Topper, Can you begin to imagine just how much you and and Gracia ( and Gracia are in the " thyroid " group------not sure if they are here too) have helped me??? As time goes on, I will be better able to identify others(in these two groups) who are instrumental in my recovery. For a person with my personality, asking for help has been really hard and a gift! I have always had answers for my friends and family (RN for nearly 30 years) and I loved that role. But since my breast cancer in 1999, I have had to take some hard looks at my life and the way I was living it. I don't have all the answers and I am now not afraid to admit that and understand that I am searching and asking-----just like the rest of humanity. Okay, more questions: Am I understanding you to say that I need to stay where I am------------stay on the Armour 4grs. even though I just upped it from 3grs a week ago? I am still somewhat confused about the Armour/Cortef relationship-------from Dr. Rind's site, I gathered that I need to treat the adrenals before the thyroid but since I was on Synthroid 0.05mg for 8 years, when I switched to Armour I thought I needed thyroid support at all costs. Only later did I realize (after reading " Thyroid Power " by Shames) that I just might need adrenal support. My doctor is great at partnering with me but I am not sure just what he knows! The blind leading the blind comes swiftly to mind. ;o) Had a great day yesterday and realized that even when I do not feel like, I need to walk. My venous circulation in my legs suffers when I do nothing, many days but lie around, feeling badly that I have no energy to clean out the cat litter (I have 5 Ragdolls) to say nothing about fixing supper. But reading your post reinforces what I know I need to do for me----------plan and organize my tasks-----leaving none for late in the evening. By 10pm, I am wasted, wiped out, totally a slug! This AM, woke up (after waking up 2 times during the night), feeling tired but not sluggish. Thinking about a walk doesn't make me want to crawl back on the sofa to watch TV again. Two days in a row of not feeling like I'd rather be dead is a miracle. Yes, I do ramble but all these thoughts, ideas, questions just gotta come out! Talk about aches and pains-----------every joint hurts, if not outright pain painful to the touch. I was diagnosed with RA in 1995 (same time I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism--------hmmmm, I could not make the connection) but nothing helped with the pain. The only thing not affected was my spine (thank God!!!!!). My toes ache, my knees, elbows, hips---------and muscle tenderness--------poking any muscle or any pressure applied and it is painful. And sex??? Forget it; it is not even the last thing on my mind-----it is not even on the list. Of course DH--------well, we won't go there! But, you know, as much as my life sometimes feels in shambles, my family (DH and youngest son---14) are very supportive and love me immensely--------even when I go off the deep end and they think I have lost my mind! I see a therapist for the AD/HD (coping in a non-AD/HD world) and I have plainly told him (several times) that I cannot work on relationships until I fix me--------the depression and panic attacks (I haven't had one in weeks now) and low self esteem may be from childhood stuff but who can tell with my endocrine system in chaos? My marriage will heal when I can think and act normally--------when I can be me again, albeit maybe a different version of me but the me who loves to do things, go places---------I want to see my mom in AZ and see the Grand Canyon-------------but I cannot yet! I want to joke and laugh again! When I told my DH that my toes hurt (one day several weeks ago) he looked at me, grinned and asked me if I wanted him to call a toe truck " ! At first it hurt m y feelings thinking he did not care about how I was feeling-----------but the more I thought about what he said, the more tickled I got and I started laughing just having such an image in my head. You know what? I felt better after that laugh! He did too! I gotta take myself a little less seriously! Thanks for listening!!!!!! Namaste, (ALDolls) -- Re: Re: Full Replacement Dose? (ALDolls) I'm seeing a lot of Armour increases of a rather short period of time and the last one was an awful big jump, after already being on 3 grains..... Your body may not be too happy with you right now. It's sometimes hard to remember that it takes 4 to 6 weeks for the T4 from a dosage increase to build up in the tissues to the degree that it will show itself as adequate or as an over dose. You could be a month or more into a dosage increase before you begin to observe symptoms lessening or begin to see signs of to much med by presenting symptoms of over dose. With an 8 year history of Synthroid dosing (how much were you on) you may have had a lot of stress to your adrenals, I did BIG TIME. You've been a Cortef since October, about 3 months, still not enough time to make a huge effect on the adrenals... and with those increases of Armour coming so large and rapid... you may have added stress to your adrenals... that is going to account for a lot of the aches and pains. For adrenals that are really pooped, your looking at 2 or more years of supplementing them to allow them time to heal and recuperate. Your's while getting the Cortef, have had the added stress of the quick and large Armour dosage increases... You may just need give your body some time, at this point, to adjust and do some healing. It's gonna have a lot of repair work to do.... Not everyone on Synthroid is undermedicated... but a great many are... and that will increase what your body is working on now in the way of repairs... You are on the right road.... now help your body do it's work.... What are you taking for other supplements? Vitamins, minerals, etc.... You are dosing the Armour 4X per day, sublingual.. that's good... keeping the levels even while your body works on this.... Yep.... now it's up to your body, to adjust to the dosing... to continue with the repair work... and you, to help it with what it needs to do that work. Nutritious food, good vitamins and minerals.. Some selenium, E, C, Calcium, Iron, Omega - 3's.... Try not to over do yourself...function to your capacity, as much as possible and then rest. Don't add to the repair work your body is doing, if you can help it at all.... One trick I've learned, for as run down as I was... is to do 'commercial chores' You can get up and do chores like a mad woman whenever there is a commercial on tv. When the commercial ends you SIT DOWN. Next commercial comes on... Hit the ground running. It's amazing how much you can get done without exhausting your body in the process. I've set myself up so that I have sit down chores and run around chores... so I'm busy working on something all day long and by the end of the day I have most everything done.... AND get to watch my shows at the same time! A win win! You'll get there.. everyone here will be helping with suggestions and experiences.... Guest guest
Dear , Bless your heart!! This site has been a God send to me also..I knew all there was to know as far as helping people find a good doc...showing them that their symptoms were hypo...etc...yet I've learned so very much from these ladies here!! There is something to be said about experiencing/living this disease. It is the best teacher. PattiSue Re: Re: Full Replacement Dose? Guest guest
, Do you have a diagnosis of hashimotos ? If your Rheumatoid Arthritis was dxed at the same time as your hypo, I would suspect so, as both are auto immune diseases, And when you have one, you are more likely to develop others. Guest guest
There is a different test for RA. Re: Re: Full Replacement Dose? , Do you have a diagnosis of hashimotos ? If your Rheumatoid Arthritis was dxed at the same time as your hypo, I would suspect so, as both are auto immune diseases, And when you have one, you are more likely to develop others. Guest guest
I was diagnosed with RA but the ANAs have always come back as normal. Hence, I suspect the RA is actually not but, instead, hypothyroid. What do you think? Advil is the only thing that ever has given me relief but I use it sparingly Namaste, (ALDolls) -- Re: Re: Full Replacement Dose? , Do you have a diagnosis of hashimotos ? I tested positive for the rheumatoid factor and then they also always do a sed rate - sedimentation rate - to see how active it is.
