An antipsychotic drug is not merely an " antihistamine " at any dose. It's a powerful, toxic drug. The starting dose for schizophrenia is 25 mg. This propaganda you've been told came from a physician with a brain asking the drug company how they can justify giving an antipsychotic as a sleep aid. This was the answer they devised for this question. Unfortunately, most physicians have no ability to reason or critically think (which the drug industry knows and takes full advantage of)so they accept this lie and pass it on to their patients. You said: <<I have been to a naturopath and I have found out I dont methalize b vitamins and have very high levels of cortisol...>> ** If you weren't methylating B vitamins you'd be dead. You may under-methylate (also referred to as having " high histamine " ), but you don't not methylate. How was this status determined and what was/is being done to correct it? How and when was the high cortisol diagnosed? How is that being treated? Given the complications with this case, I could not well by you without a consultation. Are you a vegetarian or do you have digestive issues? Here's the most important thing to know. You cannot safely discontinue two drugs at once. This has to be done one drug at a time. You'll need to really slow down on dropping the Seroquel, too. You can do more permanent damage to yourself going too quickly than you can do taking the drug. This is not an exaggeration. We can get a jump on things once you respond to my questions. You could also post a 4 or 5 day food and beverage diary (can be from the past week). Information on consultations is in a folder in our FILES section titled 's Consultation Info. The FILES can be found in the left hand margin of the group page on Yahoo Groups. I was diagnosed as undermethalyzing b vitamins when I was in treatment a little over a year ago, the same time I was told my cortisol was high. The physician was hesitant about getting me off the klonopin at that time as my anxiety was extremely high. Fast forward a year and I probably should have attacke this earlier but it is what it is. I take methyl folate, bh4 (biotperin), supposed to be on a low sugar diet which is not going very well right now. I was a strict vegetarion from 16-31 and from 31 til now 41, no red meat, very little dairy, no eggs. I feel okay for the most part I seem to sleep at least am out for 6-8 hours, not sure how good the sleep is. I have a somewhat hungover feeling, remember the feeling well from my days of drinking. But no dry mouth and I can definitely function. I can keep a food diary for the next week (though not sure it is going to be very good) Know I need to eat better. I would be willing to do a consult as this is something I am now ready to do. I want to see what I an like drug and alcohol free. Thank you for your help thus far. >> ** I will await the food and beverage diary.
