Guest guest
This isn't uncommon after missing a few doses of Effexor XR. Unfortunately. It's one of those medications that you don't want to skip or run out of or most people will experience a group of symptoms like you did- some people complain of electric shock type feelings. Cymbalta has been shown by studies to help with FMS pain at a dose of 120 mg. Did you go up that high? I am unaware of any studies about this for Effexor XR even though it works on the same neurotransmitters. It's greatest benefit is for anxiety and depression. I had been on Cymbalta for my FMS for quite some time and it had began to be less effective and at the dose it was at, it was affecting my mood. I was switched to Effexor XR about five months ago at 75mgs. Unfortunately, I missed my doses the past two days and just now realized it. I've been really sick with a flu or virus and had a 101.5 temp yesterday and didn't even get out of bed. I've noticed a major change in my mood. It's rather scary. I was wondering if anyone had tried this med and if this had happened to them? I thank you for any input!! **************Start the year off right. Guest guest
Do you have any idea where I can find the info on Cymbalta at 120mg for Fibro?????? I had MUCH SUCCESS at 300 mg of Effexor XR however it stopped working after my gastric bypass. Cymbalta has been a godsend and I am currently on 60 mg but have been looking for info to show my doctor about effectiveness at an increased level. Thank you in advance for any help! ©x© Kami ©x© Re: [ ] Effexor xr effect?? This isn't uncommon after missing a few doses of Effexor XR. Unfortunately. Guest guest
Hi Abby! Thank you so very much for your input on the Effexor XR. I'm usually so good at taking my medication. I'm so miserable with an inflammation flare and this respiratory virus (I had bronchitis for three months that just ended at the first of December, then had upper respiratory infection, was healthy for about 4 weeks, and now have another respiratory infection). I wasn't even thinking. Yesterday when I became very moody, I realized something must be causing it because it came on so fast, and I was so miserable to feel anything but sick! I have constant chronic lightheadedness and not feeling there, like a fog, from the FMS, my medications, and the anxiety. I had been on a high dosage of Cymbalta and when we stopped that I did ok switching over to Effexor XR. I will have to make sure NOT to miss any more doses of this medication:)!! Guest guest
Hi Kami! My rheumatologist and family doctors automatically knew the dosage that worked for FMS was 120mgs. I started out on 30 for a couple of weeks, then went up to 60, then 60 then 120 to avoid side effects. Here is one study for you... http://arthritis.about.com/b/2007/08/30/cymbalta-decreases-pain-in-fibromyalgia-\ patients.htm --- ~ Kami ~ <kamilleon@...> wrote: > Do you have any idea where I can find the info on > Cymbalta at 120mg for Fibro?????? > > I had MUCH SUCCESS at 300 mg of Effexor XR however > it stopped working after my gastric bypass. Guest guest
, Hello, I have some of the same problems when i miss Effexor. My girlfriend knows also. When I miss, I get the shakes inside and feel cloudy. Can't think of things sometime and feel flu-ish. She did too. I have been taking it for quit a few years. You are not alone. Just try not to forget and when ya start to feel a bit funny take ASAP. Good Luck Pamela > > I was wondering if anyone had any experience with > Effexor XR? Guest guest
Thank you so much Pamela! You have helped to make me feel a lot better! I was snappy at my mom this weekend and I normally don't get that way without any reason at all. Then, my eyes would start watering as if I was going to break into tears at any second for no reason at all!! That unnerved me most since it was a new symptom. I noticed shakiness before moodiness began but just thought it was my normal anxiety being made worse by being sick again:) I hope to never miss a dose of this medication again ever!! Thanks again! --- Pamela <pamelain1959@...> wrote: > , > Hello, I have some of the same problems when i miss > Effexor. My > girlfriend knows also. Guest guest
Do NOT miss doses of Effexor as that could cause a seizure. It is an anti-epileptic drug. Maxine

Guest guest
It's an SNRI, a class of antidepressant (not anti-epileptic----seizure risk). This means it affects two different neurotransmitters (as does Cymbalta)--- serotonin and norepinephrine. Do NOT miss doses of Effexor as that could cause a seizure. It is an anti-epileptic drug. **************Start the year off right.
