Miami-Dade Walk Now for Autism Update It is hard to believe that over two months have passed since that picture perfect day in February when the Miami-Dade Walk Now for Autism made history when over 10,000 walkers on 499 walk teams raised over $530,000 so far for the mission of Autism Speaks. However we aren’t done yet! You still have time to boost your personal and team totals and move into the top five! With April being Autism Awareness Month now is the perfect time to reach out to family and friends and let them know they can still support you and your team. We accept donations all year but all donations turned in by May 7, 2008 will count toward your overall team total and toward your personal total for incentive prizes. Exciting News! Autism Speaks continues to grow and expand, thanks to communities like Miami-Dade, raising money and awareness for our mission. As the organization grows so does our need for infrastructure to best support our volunteers who are working in their communities. To that end Autism Speaks will be opening a Miami office and hiring Miami-based staff to run both the Walk Now for Autism event as well as an Executive Director who will be charged with starting an Autism Speaks Chapter in Miami that will represent and expand the fundraising and programmatic activities of the organization. If you know of individuals who would be interested in learning more about the employment opportunities with Autism Speaks please contact Pat DeSaules at pdesaules@... .
