"Parents Assisting and Lending Support" P.A.L.S was created through the joint efforts of UM-NSU CARD and family members of individuals with autism or other related disorders. These family members possess extensive experience navigating the broad spectrum of resources available in the local geographic area. They also recognize the great benefits that can be achieved when parents are able to share experiences and ideas, both one to one and in group settings. The purpose of P.A.L.S. is to provide individualized assistance to families and to serve as a connection to the local autism community. There is no charge for P.A.L.S. services. P.A.L.S members work directly with UM-NSU CARD clinicians to support families. These family members have undergone extensive training and continue on-going education in order to be well informed and aware of current available resources. How to Access P.A.L.S.? After each family has completed a CARD intake, a CARD clinician is designated. Families may request to speak with a P.A.L.S. family member through their CARD clinician or they may e-mail P.A.L.S. directly at: miamicardpals@...
