Guest guest
I have insurance but it was still to expensive for me to get enbrel. I went through the enbrel quick card and for the 1st 6 months I get it free then I have to pay $50 every 3 months for it. I guess that isn't too bad. When I didn't have health ins after the state had dropped me because I started working a PART time job I had to go without until I found a full time job. went from Jan 07 to Dec 07 without. I would have flares every day. I had 2 children to take care of and had left my ex hubby because of abuse after my RA was diagnosed. I vow to myself never to not have insurance again because it was murder on me and my kids on days where I couldn't get out of bed and had to literally push myself for them to keep moving. If it wasn't for my children for the months without the enbrel I would be sitting in a wheelchair today and not be able to do anything. My children still motivate me everyday to go on with life and live it to the fullest no matter what is thrown at me. The y have become my inspiration to keep going and not let this horrible disease take over me or my life. -------------- Original message -------------- From: " shauna4343 " <shauna4343@...> > > Enbrel.com > Enliven Services > Reimbursement Support Services > > > http://www.enbrel.com/ra/enliven-services.jsp > > > -- > > Not an MD > Been there, did without. I once was a very grateful and fortunate recipient of Enliven's Services. But once Medicare Part D was enacted, I was dropped from the program. For six months, I went w/o Enbrel until I could find some philanthropic assistance. You are not going to find Enbrel on anyone's $4.00 list. You will not qualify for Enbrel's Enliven Services if you have/qualify for Medicare Part D. Enbrel's Enliven Services are for folks w/o insurance. Medicare Part D, qualifies as insurance....such as it is. You may find assistance with PPA or Healthwell, but they won't be able to cover the entire cost of a year's supply of Enbrel. Under Medicare Part D, once the Enbrel Rx burns through that philanthropic organization's contribution you may find yourself paying large co-pays. It was a total nightmare for six months. The philanthropic organizations' resources are limited and are exhausted quickly. If you have the determination, patience and wherewithall to work through the endless paperwork eventually you may find some financial assistance with this obscenely expensive drug. Soapbox -----> Personally I think it's a crime, an ethical abomination to develop a drug that can help the crippled walk but make it so expensive that there is no way on earth that the disabled w/ no health insurance can obtain it. And don't tell me R & D merits a price that high, when the pharmaceutical companies post record breaking profits, year after year. Guest guest
I absolutely agree with what Shauna has said here. I'm the one that posted the " Enbrel for Seniors? " post a week ago and I have been through hell with all the papers and calls that I have made to get help with this drug. Just when I was ready to finally send the papers in, I was told my doctor has to make one more call to verify her RX. Any drug that is $1600 a month or more should not even be put out there for people to use, insurance or no and I'm thinking now that I will go in another direction, and I don't know what that it. Guest guest
don't give up. You've worked hard to try Enbrel and now that you've done so much paperwork, at least give it a shot. It might turn out to be really worth all the hard work. I agree that it's horrible so many people have to go without biologics because of lack of insurance coverage. Guest guest
Wow. discouraging. I see all the t.v. ads for that and had questioned it myself, did not realize it is that exspensive, I feel for u that u went through all that to find out discourgement. I don't know if any help, but my son is on Remicaid, has had to be on it now for 2yrs, for a whole different disease, this also very very expensive 3,000. a Tx, but he was able to get it covered, and what insurance doesn't pay the Remicade Co. has contributed which is quite a bit. I think to this has less side effects??? Hope u well Fair <kalfoley@...> wrote: don't give up. You've worked hard to try Enbrel and now that you've done so much paperwork, at least give it a shot.
