Guest guest
I would call and talk to the company. I know I am on Humira and the doctors office gave me a card to enroll in the program and I called them to do it. I was surprised they did since we are military, but I do not get my medicine thru them I go to Walmart. In a message dated 1/30/2008 11:49:48 A.M. Guest guest
Call the drug company. There are plenty of outlets that they can direct you to for patient assistance programs. Their 'direct' help (at least it was this way when I was on it) is very limited to people that have absolutely no income as well as no insurance. But they will give you names & numbers of PA programs that you can apply for assistance. daytimelover <daytimelover20032000@...> wrote: wow i am very interested in the outcome of this as i will be most likely going on medicare i 2 years ans embrel has helped me tremendously . have you tried contacting the embrel people directly, some of the pharmaceutical companies have help for people of limited incomes <radnor37@...> wrote: My doctor just put me on Embrel and after one shot called me and told me I had been turned down for " the program " to get help because I was on Medicare.....has anyone else had this experience?; Are there any seniors out there getting help with the co-pay for Embrel, and how did you do it? Guest guest
It seems to be a problem with many if not all prescriptions. I was getting Fosamax by paying a $10 fee for paperwork before joining Part D. Now, since I have 'coverage', I don't qualify for any other programs. I can't even get the $4 meds from WalMart because I have prescription coverage. It's a big hurdle that may not have been planned by the folks in D.C. The only way to get your Enbrel is to cancel your Part D coverage. Terrible, ain't it? Guest guest
Dennis, I have prescription coverage, not under Medicare Part D, but a state supplementary, and I get $4 meds from WalMart. If I went through my insurance, I would have to pay $10 for each one. My sister has to pay more at Walmart than $4 if she goes through her Part D. I don't see why you couldn't just pay the $4 yourself and tell them you don't want it to go through your insurance. That's what I do, and it saves me a bundle. Recently I got a 3-mo supply of 3 meds for $36; if I had gone through my insurance, it would have cost me $90. It's worth a try. Guest guest
it is hard for me to beleive that walmart or any other drug store is selling perscriptions to anyone at 4 and five dollars a pop. embrel has a price tag of over $1300.00 on it so someone has to be paying for it . $4 and $5 sure sounds like a copay to me Sue <marysue@...> wrote: Dennis, I have prescription coverage, not under Medicare Part D, but a state supplementary, and I get $4 meds from WalMart. Guest guest
I have found that every single prescription that I have ever been given for RA, whether it's pain meds, or any other drug, when I call Wal-Mart - it's " not on their list of drugs " . I think it's probably a good program for every day type Rx's, antibiotics, etc. Any time I have a new RX, I call Wal-Mart just to see. Never have had luck to date.............. Guest guest
No, this is definitely not $4 for drugs like Enbrel. I get my Enbrel under my supplementary plan, and I have to pay $50 a month co-pay. But I get one of my diabetes meds, my BP med, and my cholesterol med for $4 each per month at WalMart. They have a list of the meds that they will sell for $4. just posted it. My co-pay for generic drugs if I go through my insurance is $10, so I just don't go through my insurance for those three meds. I had my doctor change two of my meds to correspond with WalMart's list. Guest guest
We just went through the newest list of WalMart meds and found 6 that I take. The problem is that I take some of them twice a day, and the list is for one per day. You either pay for 2 separate scripts or get them from a different supplier. You can't save money on many of them. It turns out to be an exercise in politics. I've got to check with my mail-order Humana store and see if it will keep me out of the dreaded " donut-hole " ! Guest guest
I had my endocrinologist change three of my prescriptions to conform to WalMart's list. He had to increase my metformin dosage (for diabetes) slightly. I'll see next month if the new cholesterol med is working as well as the old generic one did. The other generic one I was taking seemed to work about as well as Lipitor had.
