Guest guest
I also bruise very easily now, did not in the past. I started bruising after I went on methotrexate, remicade and most significantly in my mind, high dose prednisone for quite a while. Have you been on prednisone/prednisolone? If not, you may want to let your Dr know about the bruising as it may mean a reaction to the Mxt or remicade and more a sign of poor clotting than the fragile skin of steroids. lisreg <lisreg@...> wrote: I am just curious---I have bruises just about everywhere on my body. I feel as if someone touches me, I get a new bruise. Is there anyone else like this? Is it because of the meds??? I am on the methoraxate and remicade amoung others. I don't like these bruises because it looks as if I am getting abused and I'm not. I don't even like to swear shorts or short sleeve shirts anymore because I am tired of everyone asking me. --------------------------------- Looking for last minute shopping deals? Guest guest
Prednisone, and NSAID use will make your skin thinner and easier to bleed and bruise. So it may be coming from that ! I can not take Rx NSAIDS, they give me spontaneous nose bleeds and I can tell you getting one while bent over starting and IV is very embarrassing ! So I had to stop them! Just stick to Ultracet and OTC Aleve or Advil if needed during the days while I am at work, at home, I just pace myself and if I am in a lot of pain, I sit down and relax some. Does not always work, so will take my pain meds so I can get my work done. At the height of things I was on 20mg MTX, Arava, Percocet, Didronel, DayPro, and trazadone to help me sleep. If I get a bruise it is quite obvious where I got it from. My husband, however, if the wind blows he seems to get a bruise. He has always been this way. > > Shandi > > > --------------------------------- > Looking for last minute shopping deals? Guest guest
I started Prednisone in 1990 at 10-15mg per day and have continued taking 10mg until now. My skin got so tender that I would rip the back of my hand off by putting a hand in my jeans pocket! Today, I still bruise easily and have lots of scars on both arms and hands. Whenever I do any project, I have to bleed to show I did something, or so it seems. I also ripped the muscles from the bicep tendon in my left arm recently. That's really painful and will take a while to heal. In the meantime, I can hardly use that arm and I'm not used to not be doing something. I think the Prednisone affected the muscle tear as well. Guest guest
You are not alone. I don't bruise as easily as you do. The joints in my fingers and toes look bruised whenever I have a bad flare-up. It looks like I got into a huge fight. I was on the same meds as you and if I remember correctly, I bruised easier when I was on remicaide. I don't know for sure. Best of luck to you. > > I am just curious---I have bruises just about everywhere on my body. > I feel as if someone touches me, I get a new bruise. Is there anyone > else like this? After a month, I am better. DO NOT USE YOUR ARM FOR A DAY AT ALL. It will heal. I have taken 7.5-20 for ten years. No other side effects...maybe my skin is thinner...???? I have a brace for my arm when I have to work. Pris ************** Biggest Grammy Award surprises of all time on AOL Music. Guest guest
I used to take prednisone...but I only take it when REALLY necessary. I just hate the bruising. And another thing sometimes when somebody touches me, it hurts...WHY??? Margaret schindler <mask1936@...> wrote: I also bruise very easily now, did not in the past.
