question about inflammation

I go to the rheumy tomorrow and of course will ask him but I thought I

would throw this out to the list as well.

Is the goal of medication (especially the new ones) to eliminate all,

or as much, inflammation as possible in RA? When inflammation is

present that indicates that the disease is more active right? (or

wrong?) Does the presence of inflammation also indicate a stronger

likelihood of joint damage occurring?

I know these seem like basic questions. I thought I understood the

disease process but obviously I'm still trying to wrap my head around it.

I'm asking because I just got my 6-week labs back and my sed rate is

actually a little higher than last time. The last labs however, my sed

rate was much lower than my original test.

Is my goal to bring it in " normal " range?

Thanks!

Kim

Yep, goal is normal range, the higher the number the more inflammation and

pain you will have with joint problems too ! The goal is to get meds to help

reduce your pain, inflammation and joint damage!
