Guest guest
Hi , I have been weaning off Celexa (10mg), and was doing fine until I went down to 6 mg and then 5.5 mg. I was decreasing every 5-7 days. I started feeling dizzy, nauseous and fatigued. So I went back up to 6 mg two nights ago and then 7 mg last night, but the symptoms persist and was in bed all weekend. I am wondering if I should keep going back up or just hold steady here for a few days? This is a horrible feeling and I am missing a lot of work but I don't want to erase the progress I have made. Thanks.>> ** Yes, you went much too quickly. How long ago was it that you were on 10 mg? Do you recall the date you began decreasing the drug? Were you decreasing half a milligram every 5-7 days from the beginning? Are you taking any other drugs right now or have you recently decreased or discontinued any? Guest guest
Unfortunately, I did not note the date I started (it was approximately 6-8 weeks ago) but I did a .5 mg reduction every 5-7 days from the beginning which was working well until I reached that 6.0 and then 5.5 mg mark. I also reduced the last two doses quicker after only 4 days which I now see was a mistake. I am taking T3 only thyroid medication for high reverse T3, and Isocort due to adrenal fatigue, plus some other vitamin and mineral supplements. I also take GABA, 5-HTP and Inositol. I did not change anything though in terms of dosages/frequency or discontinue anything. I want to wean off the Isocort as well but am waiting on that for now. > > Hi , > > I have been weaning off Celexa (10mg), and was doing fine until I went down to 6 mg and then 5.5 mg. Your situation falls into the category of cases that are not simple, uncomplicated cases. With the conditions you have and the substances you are taking, I would need to work more closely with you gathering more information to be of any use for you. I can tell you that I believe it is a mistake to be taking Isocort and I would never recommend GABA and 5-HTP. First, these two latter supplements interfere in the functioning of each other. You're trying to get off an antidepressant so why would you take yest another substance than manipulates serotonin. You did reduce Celexa much too quickly. You will probably find that you need to return to the original dose in order to stabilize. Not doing it can result in years of misery. You have a window of opportunity for this that is rapidly closing. At some point - usually after 8 weeks - your body will not accommodate increasing the Celexa dose. You will be stuck in the hell you are in now with one exception. You will have many other symptoms that occur as time goes on. You can read more about how consultations work in our FILES in the Consultations folder. Regards,
