Guest guest
I don't know if anyone watched this show, but it's on Lifetime and I think it's an excellent show. It's a little " soap opera-ish " , but for the most part, it deals with serious women's health issues. Well, I got an idea watching the show tonight and just e-mailed the following to Lifetime: I am writing about the show Strong Medicine. I watch Strong Medicine every week and am thrilled that their is finally a show that addresses so many health issues for women. Recently, I experienced a serious health issue that I think would be an excellent story line for an episode of Strong Medicine. The 'quick' version of my story is that after a few months of trying to start a family, my husband and I discovered that I was pregnant. Unfortunately, I miscarried and was required to undergo a D & C. Following the D & C, my cycles did not resume. My OB/GYN mistakenly assumed the problem was hormonal, and after several months of trying various medications, my OB/GYN suggested performing another D & C in order to 'fix' the problem. Fortunately, I found a doctor online that literally screamed for me to not have another D & C. I later found out that this treatment could have resulted in my never being able to carry a child. Instead, I went to a specialist (a reproductive encrinologist) that had dealt with Ashermans Syndrome (the syndrome that my internet doctor believed I had) and was treated and am now trying again to start a family. I was lucky. Many women unknowingly follow the advise of their OB/GYNs that are ill-informed of this condition. Ashermans Syndrome is scarring and/or adhesions in the uterus caused by inflammation following an overly aggresive d & c or other surgical procedure to remove fibroids, polyps, septums, etc. For more information, please look at our website at www.ashermans.freeservers.com I know that Lifetime does not normally take script suggestions that do not come from a third party agent. However, I hope you will consider passing this information along to the producers of Strong Medicine. I belong to an online community of Ashermans sufferers and one of our goals is to educate women and more importantly, OB/GYNs about this condition. The treatment options available to women can mean a difference between having a minor surgical procedure to fix a temporary problem and having to deal with the devastating effects of never being able to bear children. Like I mentioned, I was one of the lucky women. Within our online community, their are many women that have not been so lucky, simply because their OB/GYNs had never seen a case of Ashermans and did not recognize the condition. My own doctor told me that he had not seen a case in his 15+ years of practice in Dallas. Thank you for your consideration. Noell I guess I should have posted this first and taken suggestions on it, but it's sent now. So...I don't expect anything to become of it, but I thought it was worth a shot...maybe, if more of use write in, they'll take notice. Their address is www.lifetimetv.com Go to the bottom and click on " Write Us " . I found a statement on another part of the site that specifically says that they do not take scripts or suggestions without going through an agent, yet after I sent my note, it came back with a little note that said " thanks - we depend on your ideas and input (or something to that effect). If anyone else writes in, let me know. I doubt we'll hear anything back, but you never know...
