Guest guest
Sharon, what meds have you tried? [ ] New comer ? ideas I see alot of this group is RA, which I suffer with as I call my 2nd dignoise, since it is not been my #1 pain I don't believe at this time but fibromyalgia. Since I have been extremly sensitive to most of the meds they have tried me on and had to D/C, I have really been in terrible trouble, it takes me along time to get moving then once I do am afraid to sit back down as I have trouble getting going all over again!, yet if I don't rest I pay for it the next day and several after. I use to clean my house in an hr now all day! I was wondering I have tried everything PT,OT, swim, massage, and accupuncture, which has been the best, I just can't afford it. But I do believe in keep moving or u will lose it, has anyone tried yoga, and or pilates and wonder how they have done with that? Guest guest
Let me see, don't know if I will remember all without getting out old med list. I have been on celebrex, vioxx, cymbalta, zxprexia, sclexian, Methamextrate, folic acid, paxil, flexeril, ultram, some different antiflammitory drugs which did not help, had no side effects except some stomach upset, so gastro d/c he said these type meds are the worse for digestive problems which I suffer from greatly. I recently was taken off of effexor after 4mo. which I belive helped, they have put me on different antideppressants to try and get me pain relief not for depression, as up until just real recent, have I been depressed, and not bad, I am more discouraged, that I can't do anything without suffering consequences the next day, the simpleist tasks are now almost deadly!, they lay me up for a week or better, this is the bothersome stuff, on top of PAIN 24/7, that has come back with a vengence since stopping the effexor, I am tempted to go back to it, but have been told I should not as the side effects will come back. I believe there are a few other meds I have been on and had to stop. One was a old old time med that is hardly used anymore my Rhuemo thought it worth a shot, and hope for it to work, it didn't. I am really sensitive to alot of used drugs. I have a really smart well known Rhuemo who people travel from other states to see, luckily her mother was my peditrician, and she is my mom's Dr, also so she saw me, but she admits I am a tough one. Any thought u may have on relief or just a e-mail here and there at this point helps am really lifted that I decided to seek a group, since I have pretty much been home bound for over a month, I can not get around by myself right now, and have been very bored, and discouraged that day after day is going by with my not being able to do what I did a yr ago. Right now I am on soma x3 a day, vicoin p r n which has been turning into ABC, which I worry about, as I can not get out of pain and more areas involved of my body. I have ambien for sleep but don't use much as still don't sleep, that is part of it, tired all the time, but don't sleep maybe 3 hrs interuppted too. Thanks for any suggests McNally <McNacks@...> wrote: Sharon, what meds have you tried? Guest guest
Sharon I am recently diagnosed with RA and still waiting 2 months to see a rheumatologist. In pain about 80% of the time except one hour/week when I take restorative yoga...that one hour is heaven for me. I started yoga about 10 years ago but got too busy and quit 3 years ago...and now I'm back for good. I'm lucky to have a yoga teacher whose degree is in gerontology and has developed this type of yoga. Maybe there is something similar in your area. I'm in Richmond, VA. Guest guest
Is resorative yoga called by any other name? Hatha? or something else? I've thought about yoga for the RA but didn't know how it would feel and have NO clue which type to try. > > > > I see alot of this group is RA, which I suffer with as I call my > 2nd dignoise, since it is not been my #1 pain I don't believe at this > time but fibromyalgia. Guest guest
Sharon, Yoga is a good way to relax, the only problem I had with yoga is the damn poses. My body just doesn't bend that way. The meditation part is really helpful however.I do a morning workout at 7:30 it is he discovery health channel or one like it.I can't do the aerobics part of it as my legs would would collapse and my body would think I had lost my frigging mind,bt there are some really good stretches in there that do seem to help. Of course are its over I go back to bed for a couple of hours. Heidi M On Feb 6, 2008 12:21 AM, just call me Sheba <queen_o_sheba@...> wrote: > Is resorative yoga called by any other name?
