<<off of 2 psych. drugs while being able to give them something natural inorder to help with the extreme anxiety they are in?>>

**  This is not an answerable question without much more info. If someone does answer it, beware of what you are told to do.   There are numerous remedies/substances for anxiety.  The type or nature of the anxiety determines what would work for each individual.  Also important are other medical conditions, drugs, and where a person is living.

I believe my Mother is experiencing tolerance withdrawal; she was put on Ativan

(1 yr.) and Depakote-extended release (6 mos.) I use to care for her myself

before I became ill and she was on no meds. whatsoever. Unfortunately I

couldn't continue her care and she was flown home and my father had her put in

an assisted living facility. She had a fall a few days ago and is in the

hospital and I'm thinking of bringing her back on a medical plane transport to

my home if she recovers and I can find some nursing help.

Dee>>     ** Dee, you stand a chance at doing it at home, but a facility won't cooperate enough to do it.

It's almost impossible for someone to be in tolerance withdrawal after only a year.  It should take several years for this to happen.  Why do you think this is happening?  Chances are what you are seeing is her missing doses either through sloppiness or nursing staff theft.  Both are very common in long term care facilities.

Are you sure you can keep her safe?  How bad is the dementia?  If you decide to do it I can assist you with her medication, but again, I would need much more information to be of any true and lasting help to you.

Hello ,

When my Mother was with me, she loved to read, do math problems, out spell our

whole family (we homeschool), attend my children's music lessons, go for small

walks, enjoyed listening to music, attended my children's sporting events and

attended church every Sunday. She said everyday she wasn't hungry, but we

always got her to the table and once there, she ate her meals well. The only

downside was she was up alot during the nighttime hours and the usual

sundowning. When the season changed to late fall and then winter the sundowning

became more pronounced.

After just one month at the facility plus Ativan--she was unsteady on her feet,

more agitated, became uninterested in activities. Once the Depakote was given

there was constant agitation, falls, no appetite, her speech is for the most

part not understandable--but I do sense her trying to say something. Now I

believe she was also being mistreated physically and I've learned they lied to

me about her eating and drinking habits. The facility swore up and down she ate

all her meals and then some---the hospital said she is SO thin and dehydrated.

I will need to hire at least 2 shifts of nursing--one for sleeping hours and

another during the day so I can school my children.

Thank you,

Dee
