Yes! I have a positive TB reaction (my Dad had TB 55 years ago). My TB test

will swell up my whole arm......Had to go to Stanford University Med Center

for more tests than I can count. Then my regular Dr. got angry and said it

was too much for me to take the anti TB medication, and got me some sort of OK

to take Enbrel & MTX. I am off of it now with my broken leg/hip and sure

miss it.

Yep, that is right, if you get exposed to TB or have TB it can be harder on

you!!! Any biologic reduces your immune system resistance to any viral or

bacterial diseases. So will DMAR's. ( Arava, methotrexate plaquenil)

I have to get a TB test yearly. I think it's recommended for pt's on anti-TNFs.

The concern is that you're lowering your immune system which can allow a latent

TB infection to take off.

Yeah, I have heard of that. When I first got diagnosed, I was part of

a study with remicaide and I had to have a TB test before I could take

part in the study.

When I was part of the study, there was something about TB and I don't

remember what was the concern w/ TB inparticular (it was 7 years ago)

and there was tons of paperwork. To answer your question...yes.

I thought it was standard care to have a TB test done before starting any

biologic, I know I had one done for Remicade.

I got tested several years ago in order to have the remicade, since it

was negative I had not been tested after that and I have been in

Remicade, Enbrel and currently Humira.

I've been on Enbrell for several months. I remember being tested for

TB before I got on it. I'll ask if I have to get tested yearly for

TB, It would be good to know.

I too! was tested before I started humira and remicade. But not since.

I had to have the test before I started on the Humira, my doctor said that

you are suppose to before hand
