-Gillian, I'll leave it to a more science minded person to explain

the actual chemical differences. However, as " just a mom " I will tell

you that we tried Kirkman's first(Complete with DPIV I believe it was

called) and saw little improvement(we never tried food challenges

with it.) Then I did more investigating...discovered Houston's and

read all the success stories so we tried Peptizide and Zyme Prime.

Now, you would think since we had already been on enzymes we wouldn't

have gotten withdrawl but boy did we! It was well worth it though

because it was followed by too many improvements to list(I have

stories in the success files.)My daughter is no longer on a gfcf diet

and eats whatever she wants. This is our own personal experience-we

love Houston's enzymes.

the difference between what Kirkman's have produced and what Houston

has produced? Is one better than the other, in the experience of

parents? It's just that they looked so similar to me........

Hi Gillian,

All enzymes are used from people in this group but the

biggest success have been from Houston's. We've tried

both and saw no results from Kirkman's. We just

recently started the Houston's and are now seeing some

awesome results.

Hope this helps,

Darlene

>>>My question - I was looking through the Kirkman's catalogue and

saw that they have a number of enzyme products too, including a

super DPP IV one.

The Forte is just DPP IV in a capsule. It has the same potency more

or less as Peptizyde, but the Peptizyde also includes two other

proteases which make the DPP IV " effective " . DPP IV works to break

bonds inside a casein peptide chain. It does this very, very well.

Dr. Houston was the person who discovered this DPP IV activity in

the first place (isn't that interesting). SerenAid also contains

some DPP IV activity but about 50% less than Peptizyde.

But DPP IV does not break the bonds on the ends of the casein

peptide chains. You need some other protease to do that. This MAY

occur in the gut. OR it can come from the product. Peptizyde

contains this, Forte does not.

The EnzymAid Complete does contain DPP IV plus the other proteases.

However, it also contains many, many more enzymes too. So this means

that to get the same amount of DPP IV for casein control you need to

take 3 capsules of Complete compared to 1 capsule of Peptizyde. You

do get the other enzymes though. But you can also add one more

capsule of Zyme Prime (or something like it) for the other enzymes.

Complete is more expensive per capsule which may or may not make a

difference in the long run.

There are a number of situations were giving the proteases separetly

may be more beneficial. I outlined those in the last newsletter and

will copy them to you personally, so as not to repeat them here. The

HNI ones were the big " breakthrough " that jump-started all the

enzymes and autism success.

My family does much better on the Houston ones. If your family has

particular sensitivities that may make one formulation preferable

over another one. You can post those sensitivities is you like.

Peptizyde is the only product that has consistently allowed people

to leave a GFCF diet, should they want to. There are other brands

for certain situations too, so you are not just limited to those two

brands.

I am assuming you are using a Doc Band from Cranial Tech, is that

right? The band is also 3000.00 in the US. You are paying for the

casting,, pictures, molding, making of a custom fitted band, all visits

for adjustments, and then a possible exit casting, exit pictures and

exit headmold. Does that help?

In addition to what Carol said it also includes all of their

research, the training of the staff, and a number of studies they

conduct to determine the causes and best treatment protocols.

Hi ,

Welcome to the group! I just wanted to second and third and

Carol. If you knew exactly what went into making a DOCband, you'd

understand the $3000.00 price tag. Believe me it's worth every penny.

Is your baby banded yet?

My son don´t use Doc band. He used a helmet made in Spain and called

ORTOSUR. He finished treatment very well. I am happy for this. I

understand that in USA all treatment cost 3000 dollars? In Spain

treatment cost 3500 euros, plus the mold costo for about 30 euros,

plus the appoinment other euros, if you need other band you have to

pay 3500 euros plus. Is the same in USA?

There are not information and i try to help people in Latinamerica.

Thanks

Well. When i ask for Doc band in Spain, they said that the cost was

3500 euros to fitting, band and all future appointments. But first

appointment cost 120 euros and mold cost 30 euros. Later if you need

other band you have to pay 3500 euros again. I think i was in a

mistake, but it is the information that i received. I put these

information in my group but i think is better put Doc band in USA

than Spain. Is more cheap.

Thanks for the information.

The Doc band centers in Spain are liscensed centers, so they may

charge differently than the US. I know here the cost is 3000.00USD

and that covers it all. You do have to set up a payment plan, paying

so much at the casting and then a set amount until either your

insurance pays or you have paid it off. That may be what they were

saying. Unfortunately here too if a second band is needed it is

another 3000.00USD also. I will see what info. I can get to be sure

you have the correct information for your group. It's great to hear

that you are helping to spread the word on plagiocephaly. Good Luck!

Hi everyone,

I think I'm still in denial. Is this possible? is it possible that my muscles

and tendons have

been shortened by RA but my joints can still look clear on x-ray? I thoought it

attacked the

joints first and later the muscles and tendons.

Yes, I am. Haven't noticed a difference yet. It's been around 3

months...
