Guest guest
Hello: My name is Michele and I have a 23 month old son. Three months ago we took him to the Dan Marino center and was told he shows signs of autisum but we can't be sure until he is a bit older. The Dr. gave us the title of autisum spectrum so we could get him into the system. Our son has been taking speech class, occupational therp and at home classes. We signed him up for pre-school at the JCC in Boca Raton before we saw the Dr.. I met with the director of the JCC to discuss the situation and to see if they can handle a child with issues. The meeting went well and all we can do is wait and see how he does. My son has no temper issues, no stimming and no outbursts (other then the normal 2 year old) The issues he has is, he does not communicate well. My son does not say any words and does not answer to his name. We have issues with him not sitting for very long and does not join others in play. I don't wont him to be in the JCC if he can't get anything out of it. I don't want him there just because he does not disrupt the other kids, I want him to learn and enjoy himself. Sept is a few months away and we will see if he approves but I want some backup. Can anyone tell me of any pre-school that would be good for him? I have not heard of any in the Boca area but I don't care if I have to travel. I just don't want to wait and find out he has no place to go. Thank you all for your help.
