Guest guest
If you're stuck with this doctor then the best thing you can do is educate yourself and not expect him/her to do it. Have you read the Bernstein and Becker books yet? Here's a way to get the Bernstein book cheaply... Dr Bernstein's Diabetes Solution " by Dr Bernstein is available in paperback from Bayer Co. for $8.00 including postage which is about 1/3 of retail price for the hardback. The paperback is only available from Bayer. Call Bayer direct at 1-877-7 -1733 and request Part #0441445. Their ordering lines are open 8 am - 5 pm eastern standard time. They take Visa orMasterCard. Dr. Bernstein's website url is http://www.diabetes-normalsugars.com/index.shtml Another excellent book is called :The First Year, Type 2 Diabetes, an Essential Guide for the Newly Diagnosed " by Gretchen Becker. If you read both these books you'll probably be better educated than your doc about diabetes. Don't lose faith...you're doing great. Vicki << Have lost faith with my dr. unfortunately we live in a small town and the three doctors are all in the same clinic so am stuck. >>

Guest guest
In my really honest opinion, I think you need a different better doc. Isn't there a way you can chat with the other two int he clinic? Or one in the next town? This one doesn't know much, from my experience, and could seriously jeopardize your health, Janet! Now with email, it's possible to have a doc in a bigger town further away and keep in touch via email with numbers and such. Guest guest
I would like to add mine also. I have done volunteer work as a breastfeeding counselor for nearly 10 years. I have learned over and over again, how inadequate doctors' training and knowledge is in this one area. I've been able to help and enlighten mothers as to the REAL information and support that they may not get otherwise. This thyroid group and the natural alternatives HRT board have both given me that kind of REAL information and support. I don't find it hard to question current medical wisdom and practice because of my experience. I believe you have to empower yourself with the right information, even though it's exhausting sometimes! Thanks for making this easier to do! Guest guest
I wanted to take the time to thank everyone for the wonderful wishes for my son and his surgery. Everything went remarkably well and we are home. He had to have two screws surgically placed into the head of his femur bone on the right leg. This eliminated the pain in his knee and it is doing fantabulous. :-) He went to school today after having a bout with the flu but I have not heard anything from him so I am assuming everything is going well. He has to be on crutches for 6 weeks and then we have to visit the doctor again in June to see if he can get rid of his crutches. He can't wait for that day. We are going to try and make it a fun trip and try and go see a Twins game. Thanks again for all the wonderful thoughts and wishes and prayers. We could never have made it without the support of the Shriners as well as our family and friends. If you ever get the opprotunity to donate to the Shriner's organization please do so. It is a wonderful feeling knowing your money goes to help these children. I did not realize how lucky I was until I saw some of the children at the clinic and the hospital. I thank God this was something that could be corrected so quickly and done so well. The surgeon and the nurses and all the staff were great. Again, donate if you can. It is worth it. They provided so much wonderful stuff for my son as well as the other children there. Michele Ahhh...imagining that irresistible "new car" smell? Check out new cars at Yahoo! Autos.
