It did not help my RA. When the doc tells you it's a Herxheimer reaction, listen to your gut feelings about feeling bad. Same thing happened with plaquenil. I felt worse. That also reacts negatively with MG. My philosophy has been to research meds and try the best choices and keep plugging away until something works. Guest guest
, I have just started reading about the AP using Minocycline. My rheumatologist has used it in the past for the treatment of RA. I don't have an appointment for 2 months, but it does sound interesting. --------------------------------- Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Mobile. Try it now. Guest guest
I will start off by saying I have not taken it. However, once they figure out what is causing some odd symptoms, my RD is going to write me a script for it. I have been on all the biologics except Rituxin, a laundry list of other medicines, but never antibiotic therapy. I refuse to take Rituxin because I have BAD BAD BAD reactions with anything with murine proteins, and Rituxin has murine protein in it. My RD says some patients have had some success with mino, but nothing overwhelmingly positive. I have seen posts from patients who swear by it, others have typical antibiotic related side effects. Another one of those your mileage may vary drugs. I look forward to reading the posts on this since I should be on mino before too long too right along with you. I saw Dr. Trentham last week and got an RX for minocycline. I just has 2 hip replacements form OA and I'm afraid of infection due to chemo. Am I crazy to try minocycline first? My RF is only a few points above normal. I'm a flight attendant and I hope I can return to work. My feet have been bothering me and I am very worried so any input is appreciated. Thanks. --------------------------------- Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Mobile. Try it now.
Guest guest
I am not currently taking mimocin but have used it the past. I got some positive response from it for the first several months then it seemed less and it was messing with my stomach so I stopped it. A year or so later I tried it again and seemed to see some improvement but again it messed up my stomach to the point that I stopped it again. wsm311@... wrote: > I tried to ask this question before and perhaps I missed a response. Guest guest
I forgot to add that an added bonus was that during the time i used minocin (over the course of 2 winters) I did not even get a cold or my usual round of bronchits. This winter I was not taking it and had bronchitis that lasted about 2 months and 3 rounds of antibiotic and going off enbrel to finally clear it. linda Boyd <lindagb52@...> wrote: I am not currently taking mimocin but have used it the past.
