Guest guest
Twist caps are hard, turning on the hot/cold water in the shower. That whole " twisting " motion gets me everytime. My hands shake sometimes, but not very often. I never take out my earrings, but I am sure if I did change them...I would drop them too. Your not the only one. > > Lately it seems I often have trouble putting twist caps back on my > green tea bottles. Usually they spin out of control and land somewhere > on the floor. Guest guest
I definitely have these same issues. My hands are *much* better than they were but I don't have the same strength in them as before. So I drop things and have trouble opening things. I have a bit of difficulty holding reading materials. I can't usually hold it up for long and it feels like I have to position my hands/fingers oddly to do it. All of it is much improved but still challenging. I've discovered some handy tools that help a lot with lids, jars, etc. And I use adaptive tools with writing utensils and silverware when I need to. Guest guest
We share issues. I packed away all my china and use plastic dishes and glasses. I kept dropping dishes and could not clean all the glass up - quite dangerous. The plastic is much lighter to put away. On bad days I can not hook a bra. I use to read several books a week. Now I find it quite difficult to turn pages. holding the book is not an option. I bought a gadget to get the gas cap off my car. My dentist had me purchase tennis balls. I have one on my electric toothbrush....it really helps. I also put them on my vacuum and broom handles Earrings are for special occasions when someone else can put them on. Purchase oversized - fat pens. Vastly improves handwriting. I do not recognize my handwriting when I use typical writing implements.. Hang in there and celebrate what we can do.... Love, blessings and light... just call me Sheba <queen_o_sheba@...> wrote: I definitely have these same issues. Today I was wondering if I should call my rheumy and ask for PT!!! I have trouble: opening pill bottles, filling the coffee pot and pouring water in, opening doors, sqeezing the shampoo out of the bottle, turning the shower off, carrying grocery bags or even a purse, and on and on and on. today i was at my son's basketball game, and my digital camera fell right out of my hand!!!! Did i mention scissors, or how my once pretty nice penmenship now looks like scribble?? I have had an EMG. It is not carpul tunnel. The last flare played havoc with both wrists, and my right knee. MTX and predinose help, but hasn't cured it!! F.

Guest guest
Hi Debbie, I have always been a klutz but with the Fibro and pain that the RA causes my hands, I drop half of what I pick up. I have gone to only drinking my iced tes ( a staple of my life) in cupes that have lids so when I drop it, it won't go all over.My DH has to open bottles for me and I got one of the can opemers that up just put on the can and it opens them really cool. Guest guest
I, too, often resort to a cup with a lid because I drop things so often! The other day I walked into my son's house with my commuter cup, and my darling granddaughters were, look, gamma's got a sippy cup just like us! Guest guest
Debbie, Hi, I too am part of your fumble fingers/hands group. When I pour my cup of coffee in the AM I shake so much I get it all over me and the floor. I have been thru alot, lately, since I twisted and broke the bones in my upper leg (happened in oct/07 and still not healing!!!!). I asked my Dr. and he said he thought I had " Essential Tremor " and he Rx'd Inderal. I did not like the meds because the really knocked me out, but now I am taking it at night. The good news is that my shaking and jerking is slowing down and most of the day actually stopped. Did not realize how tired all that shaking made me. My Dr. wants to do more tests, but it is so hard to get around, he said they could wait. If you haven't checked with your Dr, please do, this could help. Another problem I am having lately is dropping my earrings. Either when putting them on or taking them off. Those suckers are hard to find on our carpet. Do have trouble holding a book or newpaper to read also. My hands tend to shake or jerk and I drop it. Does anyone have problems like these? Guest guest
Isotoner Gloves...... not the lined ones, but the thin ones, for those who's hands hurt, I wear my gloves when ever possible. The fitting of the glove compresses on the hands makes them feel good.
