Guest guest
I take my methotrexate on Sundays. It seems to me that on Saturday (and sometimes on Friday), I wake up achy. Is it my imagination or does methotrexate " wear off " by the end of the week? I also am on Remicade infusions every 8 weeks. I had to stop taking my anti-inflammatories last year because of stomach problems - I just started noticing this after I stopped taking Daypro. Guest guest
Maybe you needed a higher dose. How many were you on? Re: [ ] Methotrexate Question When I was on MTX, it only lasted about 4 - 5 days. Whether this was a true biological effect or a placebo effect, after that time period I was more achy until I had to take my next dose. Guest guest
Hi, I am taking Methotrexate. When my liver enzymes became elevated my doctor immediately decreased it. I'm just starting on Enbryl now. I don't know anything about liver flushes. My regular MD did test me for a " fatty liver " which she said would be normal. Unfortunately, my liver isn't fat. Which is strange since the rest of me is (a little). I hope I can tolerate the Enbryl. ez > > Hello, > > I was diagnosed with R.A. in 2002 and I have been giving myself > Methotrexate Injections since 2003. Guest guest
I also would like to know about the liver levels going up. I just started the mxt injections about 16 weeks ago and have had to stop it twice, I hurt so bad cause he keep me off it till they come down about 3 weeks then starts it back, and when I do start it back I am so sick for at least a day in a half. Seams like something can be done, Fingers hurt and swelled it so hard to type, taking me forever to get this out. Hope you feel better soon, I go see my rummy on Thursday and gonna ask some questions, I was only told I had this since about the summer of last year, still a lot to learn. I am the quite type so what every he said's I just say ok and then feel my questions are not important, I truly don't know what to ask to be honest with you, I hope you feel better Jo In a message dated 2/4/2008 5:12:27 A.M. Guest guest
Jo, may I make a suggestion? Write down all your questions, that way you will have them all in front of you and will not forget to ask one. You also need to speak up for your care! If you feel the MTX is not helping, tell him there are many more options in care. I was on MTX at first and developed horrible side affects from it. I was taking the pills. I tried to tell my doctors, rummy and FP and they did not believe me , so I took myself off it, and then started it again, and it all came back , so I presented my case to my rummy, and he goes well you are right, so he put me on Arava, which has really helped, then I found out I could only tolerate Name brand and not generic, had to prove that there was a difference, at least to my body, on that too. If you do not feel the MTX is working, let your doctor know! If you do not speak up for yourself, your health will not get better !!!! I am debating on starting Enbrel, my doctor is to the point, you let me know when you are ready and I will call it in ! Even if I just want to trial it to see if it does help. The only problem is it works best with MTX, and you can not take Arava with it. So we will see. I am trying to get myself back up to 20 mg of Arava a day. Long story there. LOL I felt really good when I was on 20 mg a day! Guest guest
Hi, Debbie. Welcome to the group. Where did you get the idea that you can't take Arava (leflunomide) with Enbrel (etanercept)? The two are often used in combination. Not an MD > Re: [ ] Re: Methotrexate Question > > Jo, may I make a suggestion? Guest guest
No. I did 8 for several weeks without any such occurance. The only problem I had was itchiness all over my body. It got really extreme when I went up to 10 pills and I had to stop MTX per the RA doctore for 3 weeks. I'll start up again at 5 pills tomorrow. > > Hi All, > > Today is my Metho day....I'm at 7 increasing to 8 next week. Today for the > first time, I've experienced some symptoms from them I think. Guest guest
Hi, I'm on MTX and Folic Acid as well as plaquenil and naproxen. This seems to be the combination that works for me. I have had no side effects from any of them. I have blood work done every two months to make sure everything is O.K.
