I believe it would just be marijuana that is being used for people with severe

conditions, at least that is what it is out in CA and maybe 1 or 2 more states,

there are providers who have been licesensed to sell it to persons with a

prescription, used for certain eye diseases also. Hope that is the answer your

looking for.. Sharon

Actually, the system in CA is a little complex. State laws allow a

medical provider to *recommend* marijuana for therapeutic use, but not

to prescribe it. There are dispensaries that then sell marijuana and

marijuana products to people in possession of a medical recommendation.

Some cities/counties are more lax about allowing dispensaries; in some

areas they have all been shut down.

Federal law still prohibits marijuana (possesion, sale, or growing of),

as it is still classified as a Schedule I drug.

Sorry I cannot answer the original question, but I do know that there

are different varieties of medically used marijuana. Some types are

best for combating nausea, others are best for pain. This was a topic

my mom's oncologist brought up with her when she had terminal colon

cancer. She opted not to go that route, so I never learned the details,

but I do know that there's isn't just one kind, there's differences. In

some states it is legal for a doctor to prescribe medial use marijuna,

even if the state does not offer youlegal protection if you are caught

in possesion. Crazy!

My husband has battled a terminal illness and was prescribed Marinol but that

was not the name of the drug that was in the most recent email that I

accidentally deleted!!! Marinol is not used for pain but to help with nausea as

well as helping with the appetite.

OK - I guess I wasn't too clear but what I was asking about was not ACTUAL pot.

There is a prescription called Marinol that is legally prescribed in most

states. It's not something that you smoke - it is a PILL that is a derivative of

the plant pot. However, Marinol is used for cancer patients and AIDS patients to

help with nausea and/or vomiting. Now, the post that I accidentally deleted was

for another type of " pot " pill that helped for pain. THAT is what I am looking

to retrieve. I hope that I have clarified my question!!! It isn't necessarily

something I am interested in, but I want to know more about it since it isn't a

narcotic.

Thanks for any help out there!!!
