hi

I think the " No new knees for younger folks " is considered out of date !

My sister in law has lifelong JRA...and had bilateral total knee

replacements last year

at age 43 years old ! She chose to have both knees replaced at once

in order to have

1-only one surgery , 2-only one recovery/rehab period and 3-only one

leave of absence

from work.

She was four days in the hospital...then five days at rehab because

she lives alone :)

She did very well and returned to work 10 weeks after surgery...AND

she is a physical

therapy assistant... up and down off the floor all day...working with

severely handicapped

children...and has had no problems bending, kneeling, etc

Best of luck

nancy
