Guest guest
My question for you is, how do you find out if a doctor will prescribe this type of drug without sounding like you are some kind of drug addict? I just don't know what the proper way of handling this is and until a therapy that I can tolerate is found, I can't live with severe pain. It seems that younger doctors don't believe in pain meds - especially narcotics and believe me, if I could take something lesser, I truly would. I just don't tolerate much of anything. Please help!!! Thank you - thank you - thank you!! I hope you find someone to help. I am real lucky in that my pcm does not believe in pain meds, but my Rumy does and he always asks if I need a refill on my pain meds since he told me that I will always have pain, some days tolerable and some not. **************Ideas to please picky eaters. Guest guest
Hi there, Well, I appreciate your advice BUT I live in a small town, there is no pain clinics as I have checked and my PCP won't prescribe pain meds. He just doesn't believe in them. Once when I was in the hospital with one of my SIX seperate shoulder dislocations, which at that time also included a fractured shoulder, I was given something in the hospital by him or cohort. So, I am going to have to see a doc out of town for help. As I have kept saying, if I can just get into a tolerable RA treatment, I probably wouldn't need to ask. Or at least that is my goal! But thanks for thinking of me. Somehow, someway, things will work out. I just have to stay my positive self and not let this get me down!!! Have a good afternoon D. <man_u8@...> wrote: , I tend to have the same problem finding a doctor who doesn't see you as an addict, but someone with a chronic pain disease. My PCP is willing to give me narcotics, for that I am gratefull. Most rheumatologists won't prescribe you narcotics, but I would suggest you see a pain management doctor. I have seen them before in the past and they have been more willing to prescribe pain meds because they seen patients who haven't gotten relief from conventional means (medications, therapies, etc). Hope this helps. Best of luck to you. --- In , <ltdavis_jrdavis@...> wrote: > > Hi , > I have a question for you and need some sound advice. Once I find another doctor, I need to be able to get pain medication until a suitable drug therapy is found for me. Now, so you know a bit about me, I am not the typical patient. I am unable to take NSAID's and I have been thru just about every drug available and I either had no reaction, an allergic reaction or severe side effects. My last RA doctor finally found that percocet worked on me, taking the edge off the pain and I was able to tolerate it. I have always taken a very low dose. > > My question for you is, how do you find out if a doctor will prescribe this type of drug without sounding like you are some kind of drug addict?
