I'm sitting here, in some moderate pain, no stiffness, some swelling - which is all okay, EXCEPT FOR THE WHOLE BODY ITCHING!!! I had that same problem but not to the MTX, it was due to the Humira and my doc said that it was normal for the first couple shots, drove me insane and nothing helped. luckily since taking several doses the itching is gone, but I would def ask your doc about it. What does the Doctor say about the itching? Are you taking a pain medication? I get very itchy all over when I have had to take pain medication but I have never had that problem with the MTX. You know, I have been having issues with extreme itching lately, and my RA was diagnosed just in December. I think it's my immune system just acting wonky.....though we are thinking of possibly going to MTX, I am only on Plaquinel right now. I find that if it gets bad, taking a Benadryl really helps. Ask your doc if you can take that with your other meds, maybe? There have been times where I swear I am going to scratch my skin right off, it's nuts! If he/she is not, please contact him/her immediately. If your rheumatologist is aware of the itching, perhaps a second opinion is in order. Are you having your liver function monitored regularly? I had already called my doctor about the itching before I sent the email to the group. I asked him if benedrill would help, and he said no. I'm one 2 prednizone per day.
