Guest guest
My dad has osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia, as well as chondromalacia. He cannot take RA meds because his stomach is extremely sensitive to them, so he is just taking pain meds, and high blood pressure medication. My dad is my hero, I have OA and fibromyalgia with chronic fatigue and whenever I am down about how I feel I can always talk to my dad and he will listen to me and say " I understand sis. " My dad had a knee replacement earlier in 2007, and has limited range of motion left in the knee, even with PT. I have been just trying to glean information in case there is something out there that might help my dad without bothering his stomach. He is a veteran so getting them to give him newer treatments, perhaps like Lyrica or something is difficult. Most of his joints are bone on bone and so the pain medication is taking the edge off the pain. I am only 35 and have already been diagnosed with OA and fibromyalgia several years ago. Because I have bone spurs irritating the nerves in my neck and back the pain travels down my legs and down my arms. The epidural cortisone injections have helped quite a bit, and I have balked at taking any pain medication because I don't like the idea. I had to start taking it, however, because the pain became too much and I was crying because of the pain.
