Guest guest
Hi All, Just joined the group. 65 year old male, San Diego, Ca. I was dx'ed about 10 years ago and was treated with naproxen and plaquenil. Everything went pretty well. Then my PCP retired and I got a new one. He decided after two years that I didn't have RA after all basing his decision on the fact that there was no changes in my x-rays for two years. So he took me off the meds and put me on 2400 mgs of ibuprofen a day. Then it turns out I had throat cancer during the treatment of which I was put on some pretty heavy duty pain meds masking the pain of RA. So now I have a real rheumatologist who actually told me he doesn't see how any doctor could say I didn't have RA. At any rate, I'm back on the original meds plus Methotrexate and Folic Acid. I've had cortisone shots four times since November in various joints and am feeling much better. This is the first week on the MTX so I haven't noticed any side effects. My wife did say my face was quite red this morning. My point of all this is if you don't think you are being treated properly, find someone else. My Doc told me that Tricare, my insurance from Navy Retirement was the best at paying for meds. None of his patients have ever had a prescription refused. Nuff for now, Jere
