Or tell her? Maybe she thought you were " doctor shopping " ? Still, no excuse. Doctors are there to HELP us! Don't be upset. There are a few uncompassionate doctors out there! You WILL find a good one. Hugs, Pris ************** Biggest Grammy Award surprises of all time on AOL Music. But a doctor should give you the meds you need. Was this a young doctor? We have found older doctors are wiser and less paranoid. The fact he told you he doesn't prescribe these meds makes me think you were doctor shopping. He MUST prescribe pain meds to some!!! Why did you leave the former doctor? Guest guest
She was relatively young and when she came into see me, she had not started looking at the form I had filled out - She introduced herself and immediately did a speach on what she does & doesn't prescribe. I immediately knew that it wasn't ME - that apparantly she had had a problem with people asking for things. She had specifically mentioned " Oxycontin as well as any other type of narcotic or controlled substance " . So, again, I knew it was NOT me but still. My last RA doctor had felt that it was time for me to go to a larger facility so that I could get the best possible treatment as I had gone thru numerious medications and was unable to tolerate most. Guest guest
I know thats extremely frustrating when a doctor does not seem to care or will not help! In the beginning, I just had FMS and MPS. For the longest time, I was only given the antidepressants that were used for FMS and thought to help relieve pain. I was given extremely low doses of tramadol. Finally, when I could barely move, another doctor gave me Darvocett and eventually I also had something similar to oxycontin. I had to sign an agreement with my doctor at the time, that I would enter into treatment if any addiction occured. Some of my doctors in the beginning said that with chronic pain, they don't all like to use pain medications/narcotics. It gets to the point though when we cannot function and our quality of life is more impaired than it already is that someone finally seems to wake up and say " oh you do need this " ! Good luck! Hang in there:) --- NELLIESTAR@... wrote: > > I > > > > Actually I did write everything I was taking on > the application because I > > thought being honest was the right thing to do. > BUT I hadn't looked at it the > > way you mentioned. Guest guest
You know it's funny, I never ASKED for a narcotic, it just so happened it was one of the few drugs my rheumy had me try that I was able to tolerate. This new doctor didn't even recommend another TYPE of drug for me to try that I haven't tried before. She didn't even ask what all I had tried previously. There are new drugs coming out all of the time and I am willing to be a guinnea pig but I don't know what they are, that's the doctors job. Yes, I HAVE to hang in there!!! But you guys have really helped!!! Thanks! stephanie <stephieann2@...> wrote: I know thats extremely frustrating when a doctor does not seem to care or will not help!
