Guest guest
Hi Jolene, I'm new also. Like you, I'm a mom (I have 4 kids and homeschool the youngest 2) and I was also nervous about starting MTX. I've been on it for about 2 months now and while it hasn't been a total walk in the park for me, it is possible. It takes a LOT to take us out of the game as moms, doesn't it - usually we don't have any other option than to just keep going. Are your kids old enough to take on a little added responsibility on days when you might not be feeling your best? That would be so helpful for you. Feel free to email me if you need to chat! Ronda [ ] starting methatrexate I am new here.. Am starting methatrexate next week. I have kids and im a little scared about it. He also prescribed folic acid for me to take as well. I can remember just sitting there staring at those little pills for the longest time until I finally got up the nerve to take them. I'm so glad I did!! MTX is helping me immensely. I'm on 15mg/week. After being on MTX alone for about a year, my Rheummy did add Enbrel to my mix, which also helps, but if I had to be on only one drug, I'd pick MTX. I do take Leucovorin (folinic aicd) 10mg/week as well at the MTX to help combat any side effects from the MTX. I'm very lucky in that I don't really seem to have any side effects from the MTX. Hopefully, it'll work well for you with no side effects!! Good luck!! dordale **************It's Tax Time! Get tips, forms, and advice on AOL Money & Finance. Guest guest
I have been on methotrexate for four/five years now. No side affects, it gave me a whole new lease on life. I now also have to take remicade, but they certainly have made a world of difference. dordale8 <dordale8@...> wrote: > > I am new here.. Am starting methatrexate next week. Guest guest
I was taking 4 pills at night and had little side effects but when I was bumped up to 6 I felt very sick and tired for days. My Ru's office said I could split the dose so last night I took 3 pills and then 12 hours later took the other 3 which was 10 am...today was the least amount of side effects I've felt since starting one month ago. Guest guest
Hi there, I just started 7 yesterday, I split them up during the day leaving the largest dose for the end of the day. Don't take them all at once when you get up to that many. Split your 6 2, 2, and 2 or 3 and 3. For me 3 is sometimes " fuzzy " ,so I did 2, 2 and 3 yesterday. When I go to 8, I'll do 2, 2,2, and 2 probably, we'll see. I'd call your Dr. and request the folic acid.
