Guest guest
Hi Kerry, Nsaids are hard on the stomach and part of the problem includes heartburn. To my mind, if you are experiencing burning from an nsaid, you should be looking for another one. Nsaids can cause bleeding ulcers, which can be extremely serious so I feel that if you are experiencing burning, it's not a good sign. Some nsaids are harder on the stomach than others. The new, -2 type nsaids are supposed to be easier on the stomach (the jury isn't totally in on that) but I didn't find Vioxx did a thing to help my pain and it caused considerable edema (I can't take Celebrex as I have a sulfa allergy so I can't report on that). I decided to try what has been reported as one of the safest old-style nsaids, which is Relafen and found that it is the best compromise for me -- it causes next to no stomach problems for me and works quite well. So, perhaps you might consider trying that but at the very least, you should tell your doctor about the heartburn. Hugs a Kerry wrote: >...Does anyone suffer from heartburn quite a bit? Guest guest
Based on my own experience, I suggest you discuss this with your doctor right away! I came close to dying and ended in the hospital getting blood transfusions. The endoscopic examination showed many ulcers and I was lucky to get out alive. At the time I was using NSAID's for inflammation and pain relief. in Oregon rheumatic Question!!! > Hello to you all. > I hope that this finds you all in fairly good condition and all is > well. Guest guest
When I used Naprosyn recently (so I could walk all day on my trip) I was prescribed enteric coated tablets so they would pass through the stomach. I still got some burning sensation. But that may help if you have to have them. I am pleased I am now nearly off them. It has worked better for me than Relafen, Naprosyn, Daypro, Mobic, and probably a few others I can't remember. Comes in 400mg tablets - you can take up to 3 per day. I have had no stomach problems with this drug whatsoever. It is also on the Stanford list (which I can't find either) of nsaids that are safer than most on the stomach. (As I recall it was a list put out by Stanford). Mark

Guest guest
Dear a, I tried the Relafen on Saturday, and you would not believe what happened. At about 8pm that night, my heart started to pound so bad that I thought that it was going to come through my mouth....and it was like it was pounding in my stomach. I seriously thought that my heart was going to explode. The only other time I have ever felt this way, was when I was prescribed Codeine about 2 years ago, when I got a tooth pulled out. Needless to say that I didn't take any on Sunday. Went back to Naproxen till I can get back to the Doc. I did, however, phone the pharmacist, and she told me that less than one percent will get that sort of reaction. I really don't know if she believed me or not, but I know how I felt and that was not normal....so back to square one...trying to find something that will work. Just thought that I would let you know.... Take Care and God Bless, Kerry a Peden wrote: > Hi Kerry, > I wish you better luck with Relafen but definitely do take it with > food. Guest guest
Dear Kerry, Is it possible that you could have Lyme disease? I have had weird heart problems just like this from drugs and even coffee after contracting Lyme. Before my illness, I never had bad reactions like this. Last time in hospital it happened when they gave me a pre-med of Pethadine and atropine. When I calmly asked what they normally do to fix it, the matron said she had never seen it happen before! Very re-assuring!!!! Then they tried to tell me it was a panic attack. My heart rate had doubled within minutes of the injection. Horrible feeling!!! I know that Lyme can affect the heart. I hope you get your medication sorted out. Regards, Rosemary. Re: rheumatic Question!!! > Dear a, > I tried the Relafen on Saturday, and you would not believe what happened. The only other time I have ever felt I experienced a pounding heart, irregular heartbeats andI couldn't lie down for eight hours after eating when I was taking Voltaren. Unfortunately, I experienced these symptoms a few weeks after starting it, so when I suggested to the doctors that it might be the Voltaren, they didn't think so. Finally after a few months, one doctor listened and when I changed anti-inflammatories, the symptoms gradually stopped after a more few weeks. It serves as a reminder that these drugs can have powerful side-effects--and that we're all different in our reactions. Guest guest
Dear Kerry, Wow, that must have been scary. I don't know what to tell you because I have never had a reaction like that to Relafen but I do think it would be wise for you to get back to your doctor and discuss what happened to get his advice. Guest guest
Hi Derrik, Welcome to our group. When you signed up for this group you should have received some reading material. Read through that and you will get a better idea of what you're dealing with. As well, at the group's site there are tons of files and articles of information that you would do well to read through. Many in the medical community do not even acknowledge the existence of a Candida overgrowth, so you're lucky that you at least see someone who does....even then, the treatment plans are all over the map as to what they think works and what doesn't. Bee (this group's owner) has spent the last 20 yrs. researching and compiling a wealth of information to help. Education is going to be your key...so read what you recieved, start wading through the files and then come back with any questions. There are people here to answer them. all the best, jackie > > Hi every one I am new to this group ,I have benn diagnosed with > candida ,and I do not really know what it is and how to fight it ,so if > any one could explain it to Me I will be very greatfull.
