I come on anytime I have something to report.

1. Diagnosed 8/05 Psa 3.8 GS 6 low grade, enlarged prostrate at age 42.

2. Urologist wants to operate within 2 months. I refuse.

3. Between 8/05 - 12/07, Consistent psa checks. Psa 5.7 as of 12/07. MRI results non-conclusive.

4. 12/07 - Re biopsy.at a major hospital Results = Negative! Yes, negative!

5. Original Urologist wants to be sure. Re-biopsy (7/08 taking a lot of samples). Same lab as original diag comes back with positive. Same GS, same staging, same grade as 2005! So one lab is positive. another is negative. is there any agressiveness here?

6. Urologist wants to operate again. I am not rushing to the knife.

7. Aug 08 - I am thinking about making a decision. Went for periodic PSA.

8. PSA (8/08) has dropped from 5.7 to 3.5 (less than original PSA)!

9. Another psa scheduled in 3 months.

I am not oblivious to the seriousness what's at hand here.

My point being? If there is no sign of aggressiveness, need I rush?

G’day Emile,

I must have missed your original posting.

If you click on the “Files’ Link on this mail, or on the site (depending on how you get posts) you will see two files listed regarding Active Surveillance – if you read those you will get a good view of the subject. Immediately below those two files is another suggesting questions you might like to ask your doctor as you focus on what information will help you make up your mind on this difficult subject. If you go along to http://www.yananow. net/choices. htm#watchful you will find some basic information and links to other sites on the subject plus a link to this site http://www.yananow. net/Experiences. html#as where men who have chosen the Active Surveillance option

tell their stories – and can be contacted for more information.

All the best

Terry Herbert

I have no medical qualifications but I was diagnosed in ‘96: and have learned a bit since then.

I am a new member of this support site, but have my own web site dedicated to watchful waiting. If you are interested in WW, whether you are doing it now or are considering it following a recent diagnosis, I invite you to check out my site. It not only tells my own story, but has links to numerous studies and articles in the media, as well as a list of supplements to take and more. Check it out. www.watchwait. com

Hi :

I'm not finished examining your site, but some of the things you say I've heard elsewhere, and seem more appropriate in my case. I'm 73. recently had a biopsy, have a PSA of 6, am healthy, and my prostate is 22MM. I get my results on Sept. 3rd, and I've asked the group for comments but have received no replies. Unless the results say "aggressive" I will probably WW. and will be looking for suggestions. Thanks and bye for now.

Emile
