I'm new to the group and want to thank the moderator so much for

sending the post on treatment options which I've saved.

My husband is 70 years old with a normal PSA for his age, but

a " firmness " the size of a BB. A young urologist called for a

biopsy, but I insisted my husband see a more experienced urologist

recommended by my oncologist. This second urologist said it really

depended on how much anxiety my husband felt as to whether to move

forward with a biopsy or choose careful monitoring and watchful

waiting, and that there wasn't a clear-cut right or wrong choice in

this case. My husband chose monitoring and watchful waiting.

We both realize he may have prostate cancer, and decisions will need

to be made down the road for undergoing procedures that he'd prefer

to avoid - that we're " kicking the can " down the road. But rushing

into treatment for a cancer that he may die with, but not of, when

the potential side effects of treatment can severly impair the

quality of one's life, doesn't seem to be the way to go, either.

I know others may have different opinions based on their own personal

feelings or experience, and I'd be happy to hear them.
