Guest guest
Hi Holly! Welcome to the group! I can promise you that you have found a wonderful support forum full of caring, supportive people who will be here for you when you have questions and need to vent as well! I've been a member of other health boards for my FMS and have never received so much support and knowledge! When the RA diagnosis came this was the first group I found and the one I joined! offers wonderful information and posts studies and research that are being done! I only take Plaquenil (which I believe I am on my second year on), and also take 3000mgs of Sulfasalazine. I cannot take the Methotrexate which was the next step of treatment due to the fact that I have chronic elevated liver functions since 1999. They have been this way constantly and we have not yet found the cause. They ruled out medications being the issue as I had not been on any when all of that started. I did experience nausea quite a bit in the beginning with my Plaquenil and then again with my Sulfasalazine. My doctor had advised that I take Prilosec. That was costly paying for out of pocket and since I can get brand named prescription drugs for $5 copay, I opted to have her prescribe Prevacid which really helps! From what I have read, many on here seem to get nausea with their methotrexate. I've read many posts of those on that drug and I am sure they will have remarkable input for you! Guest guest
Hi Holly Welcome to the group. I was taking MTX 6 pills once a week. I always have a day or two of feeling like **** and have diarrhea as well. My pharmacy called to get my refill and the Dr ordered injectable this time, I have heard it is easier on the system. I hope so.The benefits it give me are well worth the side effects. This is a great group and everyone here knows how you feel and can commiserate with your pain. Again, welcome to the group. Guest guest
Hi Holly: I am new to this group also. Everyone is nice, and they send informative e-mails, plus, lots of info. on RA. Sorry to hear you are feeling so sick. I have had RA about 5 years. In the begining I took the Mthx. pills, but they made me so sick all the time, week after week. It was so bad, 24 hrs. a day, etc. The Rheumy. put me on injections, which helped so much. She taught me how to inject. the Mthx., and I do it myself, 1x a week. I do have nausea for 2 days after, then I am fine. Much better for me than the pills. I too, take Plaquenil 2x a day, as well as Sulfas. 3x a day. Today, I am having a bad day pain wise. I hate that I have to give into it, but am spending today in bed, reading, etc. I call these my, R & R days. I have been on Prednisone for 5 years, and have tried many times to get off it, but to no avail. I want to try again in a few days. Just knowing there are so many people on this chat site that have RA., and that they know what we are going through, is so comforting. I hate to complain about what I am going through to my husband all the time. I feel I just add a lot of stress on him, which he doesn't need. I pray that you feel better soon, and get rid of your nausea, so you can at least have better days. Barbara [ ] new and nauseous Hey everyone! I just joined the group.
