is my first post here! A little background on me

three weeks ago I was diagnosed with Stills disease although the

first symptoms began in June of 06. Due to the pain and inflammation

I have been experincng in my wrists among other places I was sent for

an MRI on my Right wrist (the worst off of all my joints) And here

are the results given to me by my RU yesterday and the report

findings:

1. Findings suggestive of extensive erosive arthritis is noted

throughout the wrist. Diffuse marginal erosions and three

compartment joint effusions are identified

2. No fractures noted throughout the right wrist

3. Small tendon sheath fluid collections scattered throughout the

extensor tendons, suggestive of diffuse tenosynovitis.

The doctor seemed worried that the damage was so extensive and said

very aggressive treatment would have to be done. He prescribed me

Methotrexate 2.5mg but only wants me to take 4 tablets instead of the

six. Folic Acid 1mg daily and to continue the Prednisone 5mg twice

daily. See him again in six weeks.

He says I have Rheumatoid Arthritis although I did test RA negative 2

weeks ago so I'm confused on that. When I asked him how all this

relates to Stills he said " Stills is not important " I was like a

deer in the headlights and could not think to ask the right

questions. He then just walked out of the room...I struggle to

understand him any ways due to his accent and have booked an

appointment with a new Dr. (March 17th) but in the mean time I'm

wondering what all this means. As of yesterday my right foot is

inflamed again and I'm having difficulty walking wondering if like my

wrists I will have permanent damage in that as well...maybe the

Methotrexate will stop that????

So I'm wondering if the little function I have remaining in my wrists

and hands is all I will have with the possibility of it getting

worse?

Any thoughts on this would be great!

I do not know physicians in that area. I am quite sure there will be good

choices available. Perhaps you can find a family physician. Tell him your wish

list in choosing a specialist and he/she can match you up. I am very, very

pleased with Dr. at the St sburg Arthritis Center. Nova north Eastern

is an osteopathic medical school in Davie, florida. They have alumni all over

the state. It may be worth a phone call.

Hi Mandi

My RA factor is negative as well. My RA was found on an MRI of my hands and

wrist. My Dr told me that MTX can slow the process of errosion but I am not

sure if it will reverse damage already done.Welcome to the group and I hope

you get some relief soon.
