Guest guest
I'm very sorry that you are in so much pain, Meg. Not that the merry-go-round is any fun, but I would get yet another opinion. If your main problem is pain in your lower back, have you seen a neurologist/neurosurgeon or orthopedist/orthopedic surgeon? What diagnosis did your internist give you? Guest guest
I saw a neurosurgeon. He said I am not a candidate for any surgery. I also have a orthopedic surgeon, but he only did my mri. I could go back to hi, show him the xrays and ask for an injection; he'd do it. The rheumy did the x ray and found all the degenertion. Then I saw a pain doc who said the only thing they could offer me were injections, but would not do them at this time because my anxiety isn't under control. The internist just said I may have some autoimmune arthritis, whatever that means. The rheumy did not seemed concerned at all about the numbers. I asked her office to mail me all my blood work. The internist gave me Predisone, 5mgs. which has been escalating my CNS somewhat, but I have been trying to stay at 2.5 mgs.How long before Pred works? And aren't you not supposed to stay on it a long time? In a message dated 3/7/2008 10:20:41 A.M. Central Standard Time, Matsumura_Clan@... writes: I'm very sorry that you are in so much pain, Meg. Guest guest
That's a low ANA titer, Meg. It's nothing to be worried about. Again, ANA are not specific to any one condition and can even be produced by healthy people. Prednisone should work very quickly, but 2.5 mg is a very low dose. It depends what you are taking it for, but usually it's best if you take prednisone at the lowest effective dose for the shortest time possible because of the risk of adverse effects.
