Guest guest
I was first diagnosed with PCa in June 2006 with a PSA of 11.2. Since that time I have been doing AS or WW. I changed my diet and was very much attuned to being healthy and eating better. From June 2006 until Jan 2008 my PSA had decreased and held steady at about 8.7 and very often was as low as 8. Last April things changed and it rose to 12.3, the highest it had been to that date. I just had another PSA last week and it came in at 16.6. All the previous tests were done at Quest Diagnostics (Bayer Chemiluminescent Methodology), the latest at LabCorp ( Roche ECLIA methodology). I know different methodology should not be compared and apparently these are different methods. My question is this...if the methods cannot be compared is one more valid than the other. And, if the methods vary so much then why do we have a cutoff of 2.5, or 4, or whatever to indicate a biopsy or further investigation? Just curious. In any event, my own PSADT is now 11.6 months, which is a radical change from a year ago when it was actually a negative number. I am in a divorce and trying to keep a business alive in these iffy times. I do have stress but not an overpowering amount by any means. So, my other questioon is this...could these things effect PSA? I know not to ejaculate, ride bikes, horses etc for 72 hours before a PSA test so these things do not factor in. Any ideas or comments?
