Hi I'm new too! I've had RA for 8 years now! I have been on

Methorexate,Planqueil, folic acid, Celbrex. It take a while to work

but when it does you'll feel better I did! I use to get trigger finger

if you know what that is. Your fingers have a spasm and it hurts big

time. But know they are fine alittle stiff at times. Having RA is

painful but without meds you'll hurt alot worse.

I take MTX and it took me about 3-4 months to feel better. But I can always

expect to feel like crap about 2 -3 days after I take it. The Rhy put me on

folic acid but it never really helped the feeling, however I think it

actuall has more to do with protecting the liver. I have just learend to

plan my days according to the meds. I am sorry I can't give you any better

news, but I can tell you I had to go off it once when I had an infection and

I really learned how much it does help. So hang in there.

Enbrel is a weekly injection the works along with MTX to help with pain and

lessen the distruction of the joints.

Hi Heidi--

Regarding feeling like crap after you take your MTX--you might want to

ask your Rheummy about Leucovorin (folinic acid). That's what my

Rheummy has me take. He says that it helps with the side effects of

MTX better than folic acid. I take 10mgs at the same time I take my

MTX. (A lot of doctors have you take it the next day, but mine says

just to take it at the same time). Anyway, I don't really have any

side effects from the MTX at all.

Hi ,

I'm I'm 24, I was diagnosed when I was 21. I don't know if I

have any answers for you, I am still in the dark about a lot of

stuff. BUT I am in the boat with you. I totally know how you feel,

and that it can be so overwhelming! Maybe I should have joined this

group sooner, as you did. I am learning alot. Maybe I will get

somewhere now with my doctors.

Hope you are feeling better soon.
