Guest guest
Hi Helene, I was taken aback this morning when I read your email about your mother and the bed sore. I worry about these all the time. Glad to hear the treatment at Calvary was so good and also theat your mom can stay at home to get treatment in the future. You are in my thoughts and prayers !! Guest guest
Thanks, Judy! My Mom had one last year, too... but this one is hard to heal, especially since eating has become more of an issue. The doctor explained why this happened - the curvature of her back (at this point in time) and the fact that she doesn't have a lot of fat covering the area, make it a 'hot spot.' He called it 'shear' - from rubbing up against the back of the chair. We have tried to solve this issue by making a cushion for her with a cut out at the area that has been rubbing up against things, to prevent things from getting worse, and to prevent more from happening in the future. The place and the people who work there were nothing short of wonderful. The positives that came out of this situation were that we will be getting more support services to make Mom more comfortable...
