Website: www.railwaychildren.org.uk Railway Children is a UK based international development agency working with organisations and initiatives that work with children at risk around transport terminals with the underlying theme of early intervention. Our vision is a world of safety and opportunity for children alone and at risk on the streets. Railway Children works with 41 organisations in 8 countries at over 65 project locations. We directly impact the lives of over 8,000 street children in any one year and have contact/ referrals with over 20,000.Our mission in India is to work with our partners and other organisations to ensure care, protection and developmental opportunities for children at key transport terminals. We currently work with 21 partner organizations at over 50 key locations in India and provide them with hands on assistance in planning, reviewing and development and training of programmes. Our country office in Mumbai has been recently established with a small team of 7 members. One of our national training initiatives is Ehsaas. Ehsaas – The focus is to assist and train our partners for integration of the issues of psychological safety, sexuality and prevention of HIV/AIDS/STIs into current existing rehabilitation programmes for children. (In collaboration with Sir Elton Aids Foundation) Railway Children invites applications for 1 new position: Programme officer (Training) for Ehsaas Key responsibilities include assisting the Programme Coordinator (Training) in delivering training programmes which focus on building knowledge, attitudes and skills with sensitivity, planning programmes relevant to partner needs and creatively documenting results and processes. The candidate should have good understanding of the street children sector, would preferably have a background in theatre for development and should be able to think ‘out of the box.’ We are looking for dynamic people whose personal values meet the organisational values – mutual respect, collaboration, commitment to learning and integrity. Further requirements are: At least five years’ experience of work in programming or service delivery, with children in especially difficult circumstances Post-graduate with social sciences background. Strong networking and interpersonal skills. Good language proficiency in English and Hindi and some regional languages. Strong writing skills. Willingness to travel. Flexibility and ability to work in a team. Emotional stability and ability to work under pressure. Only candidates from Mumbai need apply.
